Islamic Philanthropy and Humanitarian Aid: UIN Jakarta Responds to Global Challenges
Auditorium Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA, Graduate School (SPS), UIN News Online - Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta has held a seminar entitled “Muslim Philanthropy and Humanitarian Aid: Transformation, Prospects and Challenges” on Wednesday (9/10/2024) at 13.00-15.30 WIB. The event, which took place at the Auditorium Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA, Postgraduate School (SPS) UIN Jakarta, was moderated by Haryo Mojopahit, M.S, Managing Director of IDEAS Dompet Dhuafa.
The seminar was a collaboration between UIN Jakarta's Social Trust Fund (STF), UIN Jakarta's Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M), UIN Jakarta's SPS, BAZNAS, Human Initiative, Filantropi Indonesia, and Dompet Dhuafa.
This activity aims to discuss the development of the Islamic philanthropy movement in responding to humanitarian issues, mapping the opportunities and challenges of Islamic philanthropy in the global era, finding alternative strategies, and disseminating academic studies related to the practice of Islamic philanthropy in Indonesian universities.
Before the main session, a book launch was held entitled “Islamic Philanthropy Practices in Indonesian Higher Education: Islamization, State, and Civil Society”.
The speakers who attended this seminar were the Chairperson of LP2M, Director of STF UIN Jakarta, Prof. Amelia Fauzia, M.A., Ph.D, Head of BAZNAS RI, Prof. Ir. H. Muh. Nadratuzzaman Hosen, MS., M.Sc., Ph.D, Peace Research Institute Oslo, Dr. Kaja Borchgrevink, Director of Zakat and Waqf Empowerment of the Ministry of Religious Affairs RI, Prof. Dr. Waryono Abdul Ghafur, M.Ag., President of Human Initiative, Tomy Hendrajati.
This seminar has provided deep insights into the development of Islamic philanthropy in the context of global humanitarian assistance, as well as the opportunities and challenges faced in the future.
