Introducing UIN Jakarta's Academic Culture, Thousands of Freshmen Join Zoom Meeting and YouTube Broadcast

Jakarta, UIN Online News — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta conducted an online seminar, Introduction to Academic and Student Culture (PBAK) 2025, on Tuesday, August 19, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM WIB.

Thousands of freshmen participated in this annual event via Zoom Meeting and the official UIN Jakarta YouTube channel, as it is a main requirement for incoming students at UIN Jakarta.

PBAK 2025 will feature several agendas that encompass preparation for students, health briefings, introduction to the green campus initiative, and instruction on sexual violence prevention.

The seminar commenced with an address by Dr. Hj. Sri Ilham Lubis, Lc., M.Pd., the Head of the Bureau of Academic Administration, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, addressing preliminary measures for new students prior to commencing their studies.

"Each (PBAK) material is meticulously crafted to prepare students. It aims to embody integrity, demonstrate environmental stewardship, and confront academic problems effectively. Therefore, this event is meant for you to cultivate networks, promote unity, and comprehend the esteemed values of UIN Jakarta," he assured.

Subsequently, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., conveyed gratitude to the freshmen.

"PBAK serves as the portal to comprehending campus identity, academic principles, and the Islamic ethos that informs academic life at UIN Jakarta. The topic for this year is Freshmen for the Future: Promoting Love, Caring for the Universe, Highlighting Our Obligation to Safeguard the Environment, and Establishing a Sustainable Civilization," he conveyed.

The initial presentation was delivered by Adinda Salsabila, Chair of the PBAK Committee, which includes the guidelines, protocols, and attire requirements for the activities.

"First of all, prioritize your body by consuming breakfast prior to activities, and stick to the prohibition. You cannot bring any vehicles onto the campus," she urged.

The second presentation was provided by Dr. Buyung Berli, Director of Haji Hospital, with Healthy and Happy PBAK: The Key to Empowered Students as the topic. 

"Before the day, please keep a balanced diet, adhere to regular eating schedules, and bring your personal vitamins and prescriptions if needed. We want to ensure that every student can engage in PBAK activities with optimal physical and mental conditions," he ordered.

The third presentation was delivered by Dr. Ria Katarin Adiarsih, MKK, Director of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Hospital, under the theme UIN Jakarta Health Facilities: Keeping Students in Check.

"Luckily, UIN Jakarta provides a broad option of health facilities, which includes general health services, emergency care, and mental health facilities to help you. You will need them during your academic journey here," she showcased.

The fourth session included a presentation by Prof. Dr. Hendrawati, M.Si., the Head of the Green Campus Center, who introduced the Green Campus program.

"We will introduce you to our environmentally friendly measures, including the reduction of plastic usage, the utilization of electric campus buses, and the limitation of motorized vehicles for freshmen. We take a further step to prove that UIN Jakarta is actually contributing to its surroundings by minimizing non-degradable waste and air pollution," she stated.

Finally, the sixth material with the theme Safe Campus, Comfortable Students: Creating a Sexual Violence-Free Environment was brought by the UIN Jakarta Center for Gender and Child Studies (PSGA), Dr. Hj. Wiwi Siti Sajaroh, M.Ag.

"PSGA, through ERTRI, aims to offer guidance, reporting protocols, and assistance for students in fostering a secure and welcoming campus. We also work as the Integrated Service Unit of the TPKS Task Force within each faculty," she clarified.
