International Women's Day 2025 Celebration: Delegation of PSGA UIN Jakarta Attends the Canadian Embassy Discussion Forum
Jakarta, UIN Online News - On Thursday (6/32025), the Canadian Embassy in Jakarta, in conjunction with the Canadian Mission to ASEAN, hosted a Speed-Mentoring Roundtables event at the Le Meridien Hotel Jakarta. This event is part of the commemoration of International Women's Day 2025 and seeks to promote gender equality in the ASEAN area.
The gathering convened distinguished women leaders from several sectors in socio-economic development: H.E. Vicky Singmin, Canadian Ambassador to ASEAN; Prof. Dewi Fortuna Anwar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia; Ms. Dini Widiastuti, Executive Director of PLAN Indonesia; and Ms. Kartika Sari, Editor-in-Chief of the Independent People's Daily.
This event was also attended by delegates from the Center for Gender and Child Studies (PSGA) of UIN Jakarta: Musfiah Sa'idah, M.Sc.; Nadya Kharima, M.S.W.; Fauziah Muslimah, M.Comm.; Isna Rahmawati, M.Ling.; and Tri Lestari. The mentees had the chance to engage directly with mentors on the gender issues and possibilities encountered by women in the professional sphere.
The participation of the UIN Jakarta Gender and Children Study Center (PSGA) in this event demonstrates the dedication of educational institutions to fostering women's empowerment and promoting the emergence of future female leaders, particularly in academic pursuits at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
Musfiah Sa'idah, M.Sc., Gender Coordinator of UIN Jakarta PSGA, stated that the objective of PSGA sending delegates to the event is to enhance capacity in gender matters, establish networks, and implement best practices in women's empowerment.
The performance of female speakers, who significantly influence their roles in respective industries and share their valuable experiences, enlivened this event. They presented their objective towards the enhancement of awareness and dedication to gender equality.
"This pertains to forthcoming initiatives for gender mainstreaming at UIN Jakarta, including the enhancement of inclusive policies, mentorship programs for women, and partnerships with key collaborators," the lecturer of the Islamic Broadcasting Communication Program (KPI) conveyed.
The ceremony began at 09.00 GMT with introductory statements by the Canadian ambassadors to Indonesia and Timor Leste, together with the Canadian ambassador to ASEAN. Then, it was followed with the primary event, which consisted of speed-mentoring sessions lasting one hour, during which mentees engaged with mentors in 20-minute intervals.
"The International Women's Day event is a vibrant celebration of excitement and inspiration, attended by women from many backgrounds and occupations, highlighting the significance of women's power and advancement. Promoting such events to the public can catalyze the enhancement of women's roles in society and the attainment of gender equality. Tri Lestari, a student of the Social Welfare program, expressed her opinion.
The evening concluded with a collaborative photo session, followed by a gala dinner and sharing sessions. In observance of International Women's Day, all participants are urged to wear purple attire as a sign of unity in the pursuit of gender equality. This engagement aims to motivate more young women to participate in achieving gender equality and offers them the chance to obtain meaningful insights from the experiences of female leaders.
