International Students from UIN Jakarta and UIN Batusangkar Share Learning Experiences at PTKIN

Diorama Room, UIN Online News - A meeting between international students from UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar and UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta took place during a Summer Course event on Thursday (04/07/2024). Held in the Diorama Room at UIN Jakarta, this event was an opportunity for students from both universities to exchange experiences and knowledge.

During the visit to UIN Jakarta, UIN Batusangkar was represented by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, Dr. Sirajul Munir, M.Pd., along with eight international students from various countries.

The Rector of UIN Jakarta, represented by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., and the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Affairs, Prof. Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D., warmly welcomed the UIN Batusangkar delegation. Six international students from UIN Jakarta also attended the meeting as representatives.

Mahjoba Hasina Wardak, a second-semester student from Afghanistan studying Information Systems at UIN Jakarta, shared her story about living in Indonesia for 10 years. Despite having lived here for quite some time, she admitted that she only started becoming proficient in Indonesian when she began her studies.

"I participate in many activities because they are learning experiences," said Hasina during the student discussion session.

Rosee Laehseng, a student from Thailand in the Islamic Civilization History program at UIN Jakarta, shared her experiences in her first year. Like her peers, she admired the lecturers with a background in history education. Rosee felt that the lecturers provided more opportunities for foreign students to collaborate.

Mat Rafin, an Arabic Language student from Cambodia at UIN Batusangkar, expressed his admiration for the people in Minangkabau. "I learned the customs, and I think the Minangkabau people are very friendly and uphold manners," said Mat Rafin.

He also shared that before studying at UIN Batusangkar, he studied at a pesantren in Malaysia. However, he felt more independent in his learning process at UIN Batusangkar.

Ausamah Hayeeyusoh, a student from Thailand in the Islamic Broadcasting Communication program at UIN Batusangkar, shared his activities while studying in the dormitory at UIN Batusangkar, such as Quran recitation, learning Arabic and Islamic jurisprudence, and other activities.

"I hope UIN Jakarta's international students can also visit UIN Batusangkar," said Ausamah.

After discussing and sharing experiences, international students from UIN Batusangkar and UIN Jakarta took turns asking questions about the adaptation process in Indonesia.
