International Hijab Solidarity Day 2025: LDK Syahid UIN Jakarta Speaks Up on Hijab Awareness and Solidarity for Palestine

Student Center Hall, UIN Online News — LDK Syahid UIN Jakarta hosted the International Hijab Solidarity Day (IHSD) Festival 2025 on Friday (26/9/2025) at the Student Center Hall, carrying the theme “Celebrating My Choice, My Identity,” and featuring two prominent female speakers known for consistently addressing issues related to the hijab.

The first session featured Chiki Fawzi, a fashion designer and humanitarian activist. In her talk, she stated that hijab is both a religious obligation and a powerful medium for social expression.

“Wearing the hijab is a duty for Muslim women. But through this identity, we can also convey social messages, including through fashion design. Young people can voice their support for Palestine in creative ways. Even something as simple as wearing a Palestine pin is already a form of advocacy,” she conveyed.

The second session presented Anisa Rahma Adi, who highlighted the importance of consistency and commitment in wearing hijab.

“Hijab is not only about outer appearance; it is about commitment. It might not be easy in the first place, but with strong intention, I believe that you can uphold your status as an excellent Muslimah,” she encouraged.

According to Azka Adinda, Chair of the IHSD 2025 Committee, the program has become a signature annual event for LDK Syahid.

“International Hijab Solidarity Day is celebrated to affirm Muslim women’s triumph in securing the right to wear hijab. We hope this event continues to grow and become a much-anticipated annual event,” she said.

Such an event is proven to be impactful, according to participants who shared their enthusiasm. For them, hijab influencers are the agents of change in empowering women outside the religious domain.

“The sessions were very insightful. We also gained practical knowledge, and the event was made livelier with hijab booths and LDK stands at the Student Center,” Nazmi, a student from the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, expressed.

International Hijab Solidarity Day was first initiated by a Muslim women’s community in Germany on September 4, 2004, as a response to discrimination against hijab use in public spaces. Since then, it has evolved into an annual global observance for Muslim women to reaffirm their identity and advocate for the freedom to wear the hijab.
