Innovation Will Drive Indonesia’s Digital Economy
Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – Indonesia is a country rich in natural resources (SDA). This make Indonesia as one of the emerging markets in Southeast Asia.
This was said by the Indonesian Minister of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir in his speech at public lecture titled “Transformasi BUMN Wujudkan SDM Unggul dalam Hadapi Tantangan Ekonomi Digital”, held at Main Auditorium, campus I of UIN Jakarta on Tuesday (11/29/2022).
Erick said, our current challenge is to build stronger and more innovative communities across Indonesia.
When viewed from the growth side of Indonesia's digital economy, Erick explained, Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2030 is predicted to increase eightfold from 15,400 trillion to 24,000 trillion.
“Digital economic growth in Indonesia occupies the highest position compared to other ASEAN countries. So, we need to take advantage of the enormous potential of the digital economy in Indonesia,” said Erick.
Therefore, Erick said, the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises is committed to encourage the birth of digital talents. Some of the needs for digital talent in the future including big data, digital marketing, digital content analysts, and artificial intelligence experts.
He also added that his party is also committed to developing the younger generation so they have global competitiveness. One of them is through a certified student internship.
“We also collaborate with students and universities to create various new innovations,” he said.
Erick advised the younger generation to always read facts and data. “Don't get caught up in unclear perceptions,” he advised.
Also present in the event, Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis, Vice Rector for General Administration Ahmad Rodoni, Vice Rector for Student Affairs Arief Subhan, heads of bureaus, heads of institutions and heads of centers, as well as a number of students from 12 faculties. (fa/usa)
