Inauguration of the Pesantren Endowment Fund Scholarship Preparation Programme (PPB-DAP): Santri Unggul, Santri Mendunia
Jakarta, UIN NEWS Online-- UIN Jakarta Language Development Centre was chosen to host the opening and inauguration of the Pesantren Endowment Fund Scholarship Preparation Program (PPB-DAP) on Monday (19/2/2024) in a hybrid manner. The event was attended by the Director of Pendidikan Diniyah and Pondok Pesantren, Prof. Waryono, M.Ag.; Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatulah Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D.; Head of LPDP Scholarship Cooperation and Development Division, Dr. Agam Bayu Suryanto, S.E., M.B.A; and Head of PMO of Pesantren Endowment Fund, Dr. Mahrus, M.Ag.
Not only that, this activity was also attended by Language Development Centre Institutions from 12 universities implementing PPB-DAP, including UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, UIN Ar-Raniry Aceh; UIN Imam Bonjol Padang; UIN Mataram; UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi; UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim II Riau; UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung; UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta; UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang; UIN Antasari Banjarmasin; UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya; and UIN Maulana Hasanuddin Banten.
In his report, Dr. Mahrus, M.Ag. stated that this is the first programme of collaboration between LPDP and the Ministry of Religious Affairs specifically for santri and santri alumni which is expected to help them compete for scholarships, both at home and abroad. Nationally, 293 participants joined the programme from various regions in Indonesia.
In line with the above statement, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D, welcomed this activity as a way for santri to take part more widely in the international environment. Meanwhile, Dr. Agam Bayu S., M.B.A., Head of the LPDP Scholarship Cooperation and Development Division, said that this programme is expected to improve the quality of world-class human resources, especially from among santri, so that it can bring progress to the development of pesantren education in Indonesia.
The event then continued with a briefing from the Head of the Language Development Centre (PPB) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Kustiwan, Ph.D.; the delivery of the expectations of the participants' representatives and the presentation of the curriculum and programme details from the English Coordinator, Waliyadin, M.A. TESOL.
The event that took place at Abdul Ghani Theatre FAH ended with a question and answer session between the participants and the PPB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. "To get the maximum score, the key is that friends must self-practice. Don't just rely on learning in class!" concluded Kustiwan, Ph.D. ending the discussion session. (PIH)
