Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta is committed to improving community access to essential services through education, direct service provision, community outreach, and collaboration with public institutions.

The University's community-service programs address barriers that may prevent people from accessing essential services, particularly in areas such as healthcare, preventive health education, and legal assistance.

Expanding Access to Preventive Healthcare

Healthcare is one of the main areas in which Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta provides direct services to the community. Through the Faculty of Medicine and other health-related units, the University organises free health-screening programs designed to increase public access to preventive healthcare and early detection.

During UIN Jakarta Expose 2025, the Faculty of Medicine provided free health examinations for members of the public. The services included examinations related to body composition, blood glucose, cholesterol, uric acid, and other indicators that can help identify potential health risks.

The program was designed not only to provide medical examinations but also to educate participants about the importance of preventive health practices and regular health monitoring.

Community-Based Health Outreach

Health-support programs also extend beyond the campus. Community-service activities organised by the University have provided residents with free health checks, health education, counselling, and early-detection services.

These initiatives are particularly important for communities where financial costs, limited information, or geographical access may discourage residents from obtaining routine health examinations. Through collaboration with local health centres and healthcare professionals, the University helps bring essential preventive services closer to communities.

Expanding Access to Justice

Access to basic services also includes access to legal protection and justice. Through the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta operates legal-support initiatives for members of the public, particularly economically disadvantaged communities.

In 2026, the Faculty officially launched a free legal-aid program managed by its Legal Consultation and Assistance Institution. The program provides legal assistance and consultation for matters including criminal law, civil law, family law, inheritance, taxation, and other legal issues.

Legal services are provided by advocates and paralegals with relevant professional and academic expertise.

Legal Education and Paralegal Training

The University's legal-support activities go beyond individual case assistance. The Legal Consultation and Assistance Institution also conducts legal education and paralegal training and supports the expansion of legal-aid posts at village and subdistrict levels. These initiatives strengthen community knowledge about legal rights and increase the availability of basic legal assistance.

Through partnerships with government agencies, courts, law-enforcement institutions, professional organisations, religious organisations, and community groups, the University seeks to expand the reach of accessible legal services.

Direct and Indirect Access to Essential Services

Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta improves access to essential services through both direct and indirect approaches. Direct support includes free health examinations, health counselling, and legal assistance.

Indirect support includes health education, preventive-health campaigns, paralegal training, community awareness activities, and institutional partnerships that strengthen local service capacity. Together, these initiatives demonstrate the University's commitment to using academic expertise and institutional resources to make essential services more accessible, inclusive, and responsive to community needs.
