IKALUIN Highlights the Importance of Reformulating Hajj Fund Management

Jakarta, UIN News Online – The UIN Alumni Association or IKALUIN Jakarta in collaboration with the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) and the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah Organizers (Dirjen PHU) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs held a Group Discussion Forum titled “Penguatan Ekosistem Ekonomi Haji Indonesia” at Artotel Suites Mangkuluhur, Thursday (11/10/2022).

The discussion was opened directly by the Member of the BPKH Executive Board in the Field of Collection, Placement, Direct Investment and Other Investments Harry Alexander. Then it was followed by a discussion forum session filled with a number of speakers, among them are TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily (General Chairperson of IKALUIN and Deputy Chair of Commission VIII DPR RI), Karno (Director of Risk Compliance and Legal at Bank Muamalat Indonesia) Hilman Latief (Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organization of the Ministry of Religious Affairs as well as Chairman of ADESY) and Euis Amalia (Deputy Chair of IKALUIN and ADESY Expert Council).

In addition to alumni, the discussion was attended by participants from various professions related to the economic field. Among them, students of the Sharia Banking program, the Middle East Chamber of Commerce, the Indonesian Muslimah Merchant Association, lecturers at FEB UIN Jakarta, Branch Heads of Sharia Banks, Hajj and Umrah Travel actors, and Export-Import Entrepreneurs.

The discussion forum itself emphasized the importance of reformulating the management of Hajj funds and investment, strengthening the role of Islamic banks in accessing financial services for pilgrims, strengthening services, optimizing the potential of around 210 thousand regular pilgrims and 30 million meals while in Saudi Arabia. The Forum also emphasized the importance of strengthening the SME sector so that it can optimally fulfill export quality, and the development of a grand design for the Hajj economic ecosystem.

This event was initiated by Deputy Chairman of Ikaluin Euis Amalia along with the Sharia Economics division. This event aims to formulate an Indonesian Hajj Economic Ecosystem that is relevant to current developments. Also helping the development of the economy so that it can have a bigger impact on Indonesia's progress. (mf/zm/usa)
