Ikaluin at the 132nd Graduation: Dr. Phil. Syafiq Hasyim Encourages Graduates to Keep Enhancing Their Skills

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News — On the second day of the 132nd open senate graduation ceremony, a representative from the UIN Jakarta Alumni Association (Ikaluin), Dr. Phil. Syafiq Hasyim, MA, was invited to give a speech. Alongside him, Bambang Prihadi S.Hum also delivered a speech on June 8, 2024.

Syafiq shared his advice with the 685 graduates, drawing from his own academic journey. He mentioned that even without a high Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA), graduates can excel by making their thesis outstanding.

"My GPA back then was only 3.54, but my thesis was published by Mizan and won the best book award in the humanities in 2005," Syafiq explained in his speech on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

Moreover, the Leiden University alumnus admitted that he was unsure about what to do after graduation. Therefore, Syafiq recommended that graduates focus on applying their skills, especially since professional opportunities have broadened in today's era.

Syafiq also emphasized that the future depends on individual efforts. He mentioned that alumni and lecturers play a role in encouraging the graduates' spirit, provided the graduates also strive for their success.

"Dear graduates, I believe my words can serve as motivation. However, I have more faith in the process than in motivation itself," Syafiq said on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

The alumnus from the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU) also expressed his hope that the graduates would meet again in different arenas as successful colleagues. He concluded his speech by congratulating the graduates on their achievements.

"Once again, congratulations on embarking on your new life as graduates. This is not the end of everything; perhaps this week you can sleep well, but a week later, you might start worrying about what to do next," stressed the Ikaluin member and recipient of the religious thought award, on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
