IIUM-UIN Jakarta Agree to Strengthen Collaboration
Rectorate, UIN News Online – Following up on the results of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between two institutions, the leadership of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) visited the UIN Jakarta campus. During the visit, IIUM offered to hold new collaborations in the fields of research of academic development.
“There are many things that can be collaborated, for example double degree programs, student exchanges, and lecturers, especially for masters and doctoral programs,” said the Dean at the Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPS) IIUM Ida Madieha Abdul Ghani Azmi, in the Main Meeting Room of the Rectorate Building, campus I of UIN Jakarta on Wednesday (06/22/2022).
According to Azmi, IIUM has long collaborated with UIN Jakarta in various fields. However, this cooperation still needs to be strengthened and improved.
“The collaboration between IIUM and UIN Jakarta has been going quite well. However, we want to strengthen and expand the cooperation between the two institutions, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Ida.
IIUM is one of the leading campuses in Malaysia which was founded in 1983 by the Kingdom of Malaysia. The campus is located in Kuala Lumpur and currently has 14 faculties, including postgraduates.
“UIN Jakarta itself has a number of IIUM graduates who take doctoral degrees. They are spread across several faculties and Graduate Schools,” she added.
On the same occasion, Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Development of UIN Jakarta Lily Surayya Eka Putri express her gratitude to IIUM who would strengthen cooperation for the development of the Three Pillars of Higher Education. Among other things, the collaboration with IIUM will focus on improving human resources and implementing student and lecturer exchange programs.
“Technically, the cooperation will be followed up with the signing of a new cooperation agreement (PKS) with faculties and Postgraduate Schools,” said Lily.
During the two-hour visit, Ida Madieha was accompanied by Deputy Dean Azlina Daud, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Sonny Zulhuda, and Deputy Director of Alumni Relations Siti Aisyah Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, UIN Jakarta was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Ali Munhanif, Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities Saiful Umam, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Nashrul Hakiem, Chair of the Institute for Research and Community Service Jajang Jahroni, Head of the Center for International Cooperation Dadi Darmadi, and the Head of the Academic Administration, Student Affairs, and Cooperation (AAKK) Bureau Jaenuddin.
