IFFA OKI invites UIN Jakarta to develop Islamic studies

Diorama Room, UIN News Online – The International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) develop Islamic studies through various forums and collaboration. This was said by Secretary General of the IIFA OIC Koutoub Moustapha Sano during his visit to UIN Jakarta, Friday (06/11/2021).

According to Sano, the progress of Muslims must be supported by science. Therefore, universities are the right place to produce reliable scholars and researchers who can collaborate with with IIFA OIC.

He also explained that The International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) is a universal scholarly organization. It is a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Its members are eminent Muslim jurists, scholars, researchers, and intellectuals who specialize in jurisprudential, cultural, educational, scientific, economic, and social fields of knowledge from different parts of the Muslim world.

 Koutoub Sano also considered that Indonesia has many experts in the field of Islamic science. However, he said, he had not seen any experts from Indonesia joining the IIFA-OIC.

“Therefore, on this occasion, I hope that Indonesian scholars will join the IIFA OIC,” said Sano.

Meanwhile, Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis expressed her gratitude for Koutoub Sano's visit to UIN Jakarta. According to Amany, both IIFA and UIN Jakarta has the same concern, which is encouraging Islamic studies and science.

Aside from Islamic studies, she continued, UIN Jakarta also offers secular study programs. There are 12 faculties and graduate schools that offer a variety of courses that combines the integration of Islam and science. Under the auspices from the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, UIN Jakarta has been recognized as the leading and the most moderate Islamic university.

In its development, she added, UIN Jakarta requires partnerships with various universities and other institutions.  “I am pleased to have the honorary visit from the IIFA OIC Secretary General Koutoub Sano. We hope this collaboration will benefit both institutions,” said Rector Amany. (usa)
