Holds Public Lecture, SPs UIN Jakarta Presents Professor from Belgium

SPs Auditorium, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta Post Graduate School (SPs) presents Prof Louis Leon Christians of the Universite Catholique de Louvain, Belgium as keynote speaker for public lecture event that organized by SPs UIN Jakarta, Monday, (4/10), at SPs Auditorium, Campus II of UIN Jakarta.

The event that carries the theme on Religions in Europe: Social Diversity and the Convergence of Fundamental Rights, is attended by all civitas academica of SPs UIN Jakarta and several invited guests.

 In his presentation, Louis said that from 2007-2009, he has conducted extensive research on Islamic law in some countries, such as Egypt, Tunisia and Syria. And then, he became interested to continue his research in the field of religion.

“At the same time, i also conducted extensive research on the legislation of religious organizations in Belgium," he said.

For Information, Louis Leon Christians is an expert in the field of law that is completed most of his education in Belgium and France, Universite Catholique de Lavoin and Universite Paris became the place he draw knowledges.

He started their work in field education since 1984, as a teaching assistant at the University of Liege, Belgium. Currently, Louis Leon Christians recorded as chairman of the Department of Law and Religion Universite Catholique de Lavoin and became an editor and international journal reviewer in Belgium and France.

“I began my research in the field of religious studies, since I became a director at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Religion, Spirituality, Culture, and Social in 2008,” he added.

From the information obtained by UIN News Online, it is known that Louis Leon Christians is accompanied by Dr. Ayang Utriza Yakin during his visit to Indonesia. Dr Ayang himself also currently undergoing his post-doctoral research in Belgium. (usa)
