Hoegeng Awards 2024: Rector of UIN Jakarta Encourages POLRI to Follow General Hoegeng's Example

Jakarta, UIN News Online – Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., expressed full appreciation for the awarding of the 2024 Hoegeng Awards to several members of the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) who are recognized for their dedication beyond their duties. At the same time, Rector Asep Jahar also urged every member of the Indonesian Police to always emulate the exemplary service of the late General Hoegeng Iman Santoso (1921-2004) in serving the public.

It is known that the Indonesian Police held the 2024 Hoegeng Awards in Jakarta on Friday (12/7/2024). This prestigious award is given to police officers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and integrity in performing their duties, reflecting the spirit and noble values ​​inherited from General Hoegeng Iman Santoso.

"Congratulations to the recipients of the 2024 Hoegeng Awards. This achievement is not only a recognition for individuals but also a reflection of the commitment and hard work of all members of the Indonesian Police to continuously enhance integrity, dedication, and professionalism in serving the public," he said.

It is known that the Indonesian Police again awarded the 2024 Hoegeng Awards to several exemplary police officers. The selection process for the recipients was carried out by the Hoegeng Awards 2024 Expert Council, which includes former Acting KPK Leader Dr. Mas Achmad Santosa, S.H., LL.M., Kompolnas member Poengky Indarti, S.H., LL.M., National Coordinator of the Gusdurian Network Indonesia Alissa Qotrunnada Wahid, S.Psi., Komnas HAM member Putu Elvina, S.Psi., MM, and Deputy Chair of Commission III of the DPR, Dr. Habiburokhman, S.H., M.H.

There were five categories of exemplary police officers who were awarded: 'Dedicated Police', 'Innovative Police', 'Police Protector of Women and Children', 'Border and Remote Police', and 'Police with Integrity'. From many candidates, the expert council finally selected five police officers as award recipients. They are AKBP Sri Wahyuni (Head of Sepolwan Lemdiklat Polri) for the Police with Integrity category, Iptu Made Ambo (Head of Community Guidance Unit, Jayapura Police) for Dedicated Police, and Bripka Septinus Arui (Community Police Officer in Ayambori, Manokwari, West Papua) for Border and Remote Police. Additionally, AKP Reza Pratama Rhamdani Yusuf (Head of Traffic Unit, Kukar Police 2021-2023, Head of Traffic Unit, Bangka Belitung Police) for Innovative Police, and AKBP Rio Wahyu Anggoro (Bogor Police Chief) for the Police Protector of Women and Children category.

Furthermore, Prof. Asep appreciated the hard work of the police officers who continue to strive to provide safety and comfort to the community amidst increasingly complex social challenges. "The members of the Indonesian Police have shown that with a high spirit of dedication, they can face challenges and provide the best for the nation and the country. We must express our gratitude for their dedication," he said.

Moreover, Rector Asep noted that the public now increasingly expects the Indonesian Police to continue to improve their public service performance. "The community hopes that the Indonesian Police will continue to enhance professionalism and integrity in every aspect of their duties. In this challenging era, cooperation and synergy between various elements of society and the police are crucial to creating a conducive environment for security and order," he emphasized.

To become a police force with integrity, Rector Asep encouraged all members of the Indonesian Police to always take the example of the late General Hoegeng Iman Santoso as a mirror in their service to the community. The 5th Chief of the Indonesian Police (1968-1971) is noted as a police officer with high integrity, honesty, and dedication in his police duties.

"General Hoegeng must and should continue to be an inspiration for all police officers in Indonesia. By emulating him, God willing, the Indonesian Police can build public trust and create a safer and more harmonious environment," he added.

Meanwhile, Rector Asep added that UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is committed to supporting efforts to enhance the capacity and quality of human resources, including within the Indonesian Police. "We are ready to collaborate and contribute in the form of relevant education and training to improve the competence of police members.
