Have implemented a watershed management strategy based on location specific diversity of aquatic species
The location of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University adjacent to the Situ Gintung urban aquatic ecosystem creates an important responsibility for the university to contribute to water pollution prevention and sustainable watershed management. As an educational and research institution, the university plays a strategic role in generating scientific knowledge, implementing environmentally responsible practices, and promoting collaboration to protect surrounding aquatic environments.
This program is designed to support the conservation of aquatic biodiversity, prevent hazardous laboratory waste from entering water drainage systems and the Situ Gintung watershed, and strengthen integrated water pollution management through research-based environmental policies. The program also aims to improve water quality management, maintain the ecological balance of aquatic ecosystems, and encourage active participation from the academic community and surrounding communities. These initiatives are aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 14 (Life Below Water), particularly the broader objective of reducing water pollution and protecting aquatic ecosystems.
