Grand Imam of the Masjid Nabawi Delivers a Message of Brotherhood in a Public Lecture at UIN Jakarta
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online - UIN Jakarta witnessed a historic meeting between the world of Indonesian Islamic education and the religious authorities of Saudi Arabia. On Thursday (10/10/2024), Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Bin Ali Al Hudzaifi, Grand Imam of the Masjid Nabawi, delivered a public lecture on the theme of brotherhood and universal Islamic values.
The event, which was attended by high-ranking officials of both countries, emphasized the commitment of Saudi Arabia and Indonesia in strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the fields of religion and education. Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Faisal bin Abdullah H. Amodi, in his remarks emphasized the importance of this visit as part of efforts to “provide the best services and strengthen relations between Muslims and the Islamic world in general, and Indonesia in particular.”
The Grand Imam of the Masjid Nabawi, Shaykh Al Hudzaifi in his lecture highlighted Indonesia's important role in the Islamic world. “I feel amazed at the Indonesian people who are very good in their manners in this welcome,” said the Shaykh. The Grand Imam also underlined the importance of studying and maintaining purity according to the teachings of the Qur'an.
UIN Jakarta Rector, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., in his speech thanked the distinguished guests for their presence. He stated that this event is a clear evidence of close cooperation between Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia and the religious authorities of Saudi Arabia.
This public lecture is not only a place to exchange knowledge, but also a moment to strengthen the bond of brotherhood between two countries with the largest Muslim population in the world. The participants who attended were expected to take lessons and inspiration to continue advancing a peaceful and progressive Islamic civilization.
This event closed the series of visits by Shaykh Al Hudzaifi to Indonesia, which previously also visited Islamic Boarding Schools in the Jakarta area. Hopefully, this momentum can be a catalyst for increased cooperation in various fields between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in the future.
