Grand BAZNAS Awards 2026 Honors 100 Outstanding Zakat Advocates, Including UIN Jakarta

Jakarta, UIN News Online— Indonesia’s National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) honored 100 outstanding zakat advocates across various categories, recognizing institutions and individuals for their contributions to strengthening the national zakat ecosystem. The awards were presented at the 2026 Grand BAZNAS Awards, held in conjunction with the 2026 BAZNAS National Coordination Meeting in Jakarta on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Chairman of BAZNAS RI, Dr. Ir. H. Sodik Mudjahid, M.Sc., said the awards recognize the contributions of individuals and institutions in supporting zakat management. He noted that, specifically in the context of zakat, the public is permitted to publicly acknowledge and appreciate those who fulfill their zakat obligations.

“Offer prayers, congratulations, and recognition to those who pay zakat. We all know that Allah teaches us to be sincere and so forth. In the case of zakat, there are two things that are permissible: sharing this information and expressing appreciation to those who pay zakat,” Sodik said.

He further explained that the 2026 Grand BAZNAS Awards are part of the implementation of BAZNAS’s Asta Stratas and Asta Prioritas for 2026–2031, particularly efforts to build a productive and collaborative ecosystem, strengthen networks and partnerships, and promote improvements and innovation in BAZNAS management.

“The Grand Awards feature 20 categories covering various groups, as part of the first Asta Stratas priority: building a productive and collaborative ecosystem,” he said.

Sodik added that the awards also represent an effort to implement Asta Stratas by strengthening networks and collaboration with various stakeholders. The recipients come from diverse backgrounds, ranging from governors and mayors to muzaki (individuals or entities who pay zakat).

“This event is one way we put Asta Stratas into practice by maintaining our collaboration with various stakeholders,” he said.

Through the event, BAZNAS also seeks to promote its five principles, known as the “5Ds”: a BAZNAS that is Remembered, Trusted, Accessible, Loved, and a Source of Pride.

Through the 2026 Grand BAZNAS Awards, BAZNAS RI continues to encourage stronger collaboration and innovation in national zakat management to expand the zakat ecosystem and increase its benefits for the public.

“We hope this event will foster mutual appreciation and encourage one another to keep growing. For the award recipients, this recognition should serve as motivation to continue improving their achievements and delivering greater benefits to society,” Sodik said.

Among the 100 outstanding zakat advocates honored, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta was recognized in the Best Educational Institution Supporting Zakat category. Four other higher education institutions were also selected in the same category: Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Sebelas Maret, UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar, and Universitas Padjadjaran.
