FSH UIN Jakarta holds webinar on violations of humanitarian law in Afghanistan
Rectorate, UIN News Online – The Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) UIN Jakarta, in collaboration with the Indonesian Muslim Crisis Center (IMCC) holds webinar on violations of humanitarian law in Afghanistan entitled “Menyoal Pelanggaran HAM Militer Australia di Afghanistan” on Tuesday (05/04/2021)
Moderated by lecturer at FSH UIN Jakarta Fathudin Kalimas, this webinar presents the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis as keynote speaker as well as the Dean of FSH UIN Jakarta Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, International Relations lecturer at FISIP UIN Jakarta Irfan R Hutagalung, Human Right Activist Rafendi Djamin and Member of Commision I, DPR-RI Meutya Hafid as resource persons.
Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis in her presentation said that Australian special forces unlawfully killed 39 Afghan civilians around 2009-2013.
“The reports alleges that a group of soldiers within the special air services and commandos (SAS) regiment had killed at least 39 civilians, including children. This incident is a serious violation of human rights,” said Rector.
According to Rector Amany, the report was released after four years of investigation following the whistle blower and local media reports. “With the 39 Afghans killed, the soldiers are likely to be prosecuted for 23 separate incidents,” she said.
In line with Rector Amany, the Dean of FSH UIN Jakarta Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie said that this case must be brought to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
“This atrocities must be immediately investigated and followed up in accordance with the applicable regulations,” said Tholabi. (usa)
