FSH UIN Jakarta Holds the 6th ICLJ

Rectorate, UIN News Online – The Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) UIN Jakarta in collaboration with the Faculty of Sharia UIN Mataram holds the 6th International Conference on Law and Justice (ICLJ) with the theme “Sharia towards the Digital World:  Breakthroughs in the Fields of Law, Justice, and Human Rights in Smart Society 5.0” in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara on 28-30 August, 2022.

The conference, which inaugurated by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis also presents a number of speakers, namely Timothy Lindsey (Melbourne Law, The University of Melbourne), Najma Moosa (University of the Western Cape-South Africa), Christian Lange (Utrecht University – Netherland), Masnun Tahir (Mataram State Islamic University), Wahiduddin Adams (Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia), Masykuri Abdillah (Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University-Indonesia), and Asep S. Jahar (Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University-Indonesia)

Dean of FSH UIN Jakarta Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie said this Conference aims at bringing together academics, researchers, practitioners, students and other groups whose interests are in the issues of justice within the framework of law, sharia, economics, gender, education and human rights in the newest technology platforms. They are expected to share their works and experiences concerning the topics.

“In addition to disseminating thoughts and research findings, the Conference is also intended to strengthen networking and collaboration among participants,” said Tholabi on Sunday, (08/28/2022)

He also added that a number of themes will be discussed in this event, including law and justice, sharia and justice, business law and justice, law and technology and sharia economics for economic justice.

“There are legal problems that arise as a result of this digital existence. So we need more appropriate legal instruments, digitally prepared legal practitioners, and adaptable legal scholars,” he added.

Omn the same occasion, Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis warmly welcomed the initiative of the Faculty of Sharia and Law in holding this annual international conference. According to Amany, this activity is important to affirm UIN Jakarta's commitment to scientific integration as well as to strengthen the role and function of UIN Jakarta in solving societal problems.

“This effort made by the Faculty of Sharia and Law of UIN Jakarta should be appreciated as a concrete effort to integrate Islamic studies and science, especially in sharia and legal studies,” said Rector Amany.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the 6th ICLJ Committee, Windy Triana, said that the participation of researchers and academics to attend this event was quite high. In addition, the committee also facilitates participants who cannot attend directly by using online services.

“Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic situation, the Conference will be held in hybrid manner. Physical attendance is strictly possible for Indonesian residents,” said Windy.

Windy also added that all participant articles that pass the selection will be published in journals accredited by Sinta 2 and indexed by Scopus. “Hopefully this conference will produce important findings that will be useful for the development of law in Indonesia, especially in sharia, digital, legal, and human rights issues,” she added.
