From Ministry Officials to National Police Chief: Dignitaries and National Figures Attend Inauguration of 13 UIN Jakarta Professors
Harun Nasution Auditorium UIN Jakarta, UIN News Online – A lineup of national figures, state officials, and leaders from various higher education institutions attended the professorial inauguration ceremony at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The presence of these prominent figures marked the milestone inauguration of 13 new full professors during an Open Senate Session held at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on Wednesday (30/09/2026).
The event was attended by the executive leadership of UIN Jakarta, including Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A., Vice Rector for General Administration Prof. Dr. Imam Subchi, M.A., and Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D..
Numerous national figures and public officials were also present, including Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Prof. Dr. KH Nasaruddin Umar, M.A., accompanied by his spouse; Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu'ti, M.Ed.; Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2014–2019 period Dr. KH. Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, M.A., accompanied by his spouse; Head of the Educational and Training Institution of the Indonesian National Police Comm. Gen. Pol. Panca Putra S.; Director General of Research and Development at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Dr. Fauzan Adziman, S.T., M.Eng.; Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D.; members of parliament; senior advisors; and institutional special staff.
Alongside leadership from UIN Jakarta, national figures, and public officials, leaders from partner higher education institutions also attended, including university rects, Rector of UIN Malang Prof. Dr. Ilfi Nurdiana M.Si., Rector of UMJ Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod M.Si., and Rector of the International Islamic University Indonesia Prof. Jamhari Ma’ruf, M.A., Ph.D..
In his address, Minister of Religious Affairs Prof. Nasaruddin Umar expressed his appreciation to UIN Jakarta for the inauguration of 13 full professors. Prof. Nasaruddin added that the growing number of full professors generated by UIN Jakarta must be accompanied by the reinforcement of knowledge production that can contribute more broadly.
“It is high time we become producers of knowledge, no longer mere consumers,” he advised.
Furthermore, he noted that the inauguration of these 13 full professors can serve as momentum to reinvigorate the intellectual tradition historically associated with Ciputat scholars and students. Prof. Nasaruddin emphasized that UIN Jakarta possesses the potential to become a leading higher education institution capable of competing globally through works produced by its academics and alumni.
Meanwhile, a mandate was also delivered by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar. He stated that a professorial inauguration represents not only the pinnacle of academic achievement, but also carries far greater responsibility for academics.
“This means there are profound responsibilities that must be borne—both academic responsibilities and social responsibility to society,” he stated.
Prof. Asep added that the newly inaugurated full professors are expected to continuously nurture UIN Jakarta's academic tradition while delivering dedicated service to the university and the nation. He also urged the professors to maintain their love for their alma mater and scholarly pursuits, contributing meaningfully to future generations.
The inauguration of 13 full professors across various disciplines reinforces UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta's commitment to producing high-quality and reputable research, broadening scholarly contributions to humanity, and strengthening its role in the advancement and integration of knowledge at both national and international levels.
