From Intern to Corpsman: Alumnus of FK UIN Jakarta Inspires Hundreds of Graduates

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News — The 137th Grand Graduation Ceremony of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is not only a sacred moment for its graduates but also a source of inspiration, featuring stories from distinguished alumni. One such story comes from First Lieutenant (LETTU CKM) Dr. Ananda Rizky Marpaung, an alumnus of the Faculty of Medicine (Class of 2012) who now serves as a military doctor in the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

In an interview with UIN Online News, Dr. Ananda shared his journey from graduating in 2018 to taking on various assignments in the field. After completing his internship program, he joined the SEPA PK TNI military training in 2020 and began his service with Infantry Battalion 310 Kidang Kencana.

“At first, I never imagined I would step into the military world, but the opportunity came and I took it. It was there that I found my true calling of service,” he told.

For 15 months, he served in combat operations in Papua, where he received an award directly from the TNI Commander. He was also entrusted to serve as the medical officer for the Indonesian contingent during the Bastille Day military parade in France—an experience he described as unforgettable.

According to him, being a military doctor comes with both challenges and valuable lessons.

“Our greatest responsibility is to ensure the health of the soldiers and their families. For me, the knowledge and Islamic values I gained from UIN Jakarta have become the foundation for facing the dynamics of life, both on the battlefield and in everyday duties,” he explained.

To the graduating students, he offered a motivating message:

“Never hesitate to seize opportunities when they come. Take them—don’t overthink. If you let them pass, all that’s left is regret. Keep serving, because true service requires both a strong foundation and real action,” he advised.

He also reminded the graduates that UIN Jakarta is more than just an academic institution—it is a place where character is built.

“UIN Jakarta has instilled sincerity, discipline, and responsibility. These values have been essential for me to contribute both nationally and internationally,” he concluded.

Currently, First Lieutenant (LETTU CKM) Dr. Ananda Rizky Marpaung serves as the Head of the Health Detachment in Sukabumi since 2023, continuing his contribution to military healthcare and service to the nation.
