Four Outstanding UIN Jakarta Graduates Awarded Cum Laude Distinction on Day 2 of 141st Graduation
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta inaugurated 765 graduates on the second day of the 141st Graduation Ceremony for Bachelor's and Master's Programs for the 2025/2026 Academic Year, Sunday (06/09/2026), at the Harun Nasution Auditorium. The participants comprised 215 graduates from the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU), 416 from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), and 134 from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), as part of a graduation series inaugurating a total of 3,154 graduates.
The procession commenced with an opening ceremony, recitations of the Holy Qur'an and Sign Language Qur'an, prayers, the reading of Rector's Decree Number 516 of 2026 concerning Participants, Best Graduates, and Authors of the Best Thesis for the 141st Graduation, followed by the inauguration led by Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D. The Senate session was attended by Senate Secretary Prof. Bambang Suryadi, Ph.D., Vice Rectors, faculty leaders, the academic community, as well as parents and guardians of the graduates.
Under the decree, UIN Jakarta designated four best graduates on the second day of the 141st Graduation. Among them, in the Master's (S2) degree from FU, Khaerul Umam from the Qur'anic Studies and Exegesis Study Program achieved a GPA of 3.96, followed by Muhammad Khairurrozikin from the same program. The next honor was awarded to A Sayyidul Afkar from the Islamic Banking Study Program, FEB, with a GPA of 3.97. Lastly, the cum laude distinction was achieved by Nurul Hidayah from Pharmacy, FIKES, with a GPA of 3.92.
These achievements form part of UIN Jakarta's academic recognition of graduates demonstrating stellar academic excellence throughout their education. The honors place academic performance not merely as a measure of success, but also underscore the importance of carrying educational values into post-graduation life.
As a recipient of the distinction from FU in Qur'anic Studies and Exegesis with a GPA of 3.96, Khaerul Umam led the recitation of the Graduate Pledge (Prasetia Sarjana), representing hundreds of graduates. The expectation is to embody the principles outlined in the oath—one of which is to become UIN Jakarta graduates who deliver a positive impact while adhering to Islamic teachings within society.
“As Muslim scholars, we will obediently and faithfully fulfill the teachings of Islam and remain ever mindful of our responsibility toward the welfare of the Ummah, the future of the nation, and the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution,” declared Khaerul, recited in unison by hundreds of graduates.
Additionally, as one of the best graduates, A. Sayyidul Afkar noted that the journey toward graduation was not uniform for everyone. Each student carries distinct stories, challenges, and directions, yet all were brought together through a shared learning experience that ultimately led them to this graduation milestone.
“Today's graduation theme, 'Strengthening Innovative Graduates with Integrity and Impact on Humanity,' is not merely a theme for today's event, but serves as a constant reminder of the values we should uphold after leaving university life,” he stated.
According to him, becoming an innovative graduate does not always mean producing something massive. Innovation can begin with the courage to voice ideas, seek solutions to problems, and maintain the drive to continuously learn. However, these capabilities must go hand in hand with integrity so that one's knowledge and competence are exercised responsibly.
“Being smart and innovative alone is not enough. We must also possess integrity—remaining honest, responsible, and trustworthy, even when no one is watching. This value will serve as our foundation in utilizing the knowledge and skills we have acquired,” he expressed.
On the other hand, Nurul Hidayah shared that her academic achievements were shaped by organizational experience and the perseverance required to complete her thesis research. Throughout her studies, she was active in Paguyuban KSE Jakarta and completed an internship with the Indonesian Pharmacist Youth Group (IYPG) DKI Jakarta.
“The greatest challenge during my studies was conducting thesis research. Because it involved novel methods and test animals in the field of pharmacy, I had to navigate a trial-and-error process. However, thanks to the guidance of my advisors, the research was successfully completed. Currently, I am directly continuing into the Pharmacist Professional Education program,” she shared.
That experience demonstrates that academic success stems not only from final outcomes, but also from the process of overcoming hurdles, trying again after facing setbacks, and receiving support from the academic environment. For Nurul, that journey serves as valuable preparation for advancing to the next stage of her education.
The proceedings reaffirmed that the 141st Graduation Ceremony does not end with the conferral of academic degrees, but continues with the commitment to uphold the Islamic teachings learned. This momentum marks a new chapter carrying three core values enshrined in the graduation theme: innovation in facing change, integrity in exercising knowledge and competence, and delivering meaningful benefits to humanity. Thus, the best graduate distinctions and academic accomplishments mark the starting point to prove graduate quality through tangible contributions beyond campus walls.
