FKMP Holds Thursday Study Session to Discuss Spiritual Transformation from a Developmental Psychology Perspective

Postgraduate School Library, UIN Online News – The Postgraduate Student Communication Forum (FKMP) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again held a Thursday Study Session (Kajian Kamisan) with the theme "Transformation of Spirituality in Developmental Psychology Perspective" on Thursday, July 31, 2025. The event took place from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM WIB on the 3rd Floor of the Postgraduate School Library and was also broadcast online via Zoom and live streaming.

The study session featured Prof. Dr. Rena Latifa, M.Psi., Psychologist, Professor of Religious Psychology at UIN Jakarta, as the main speaker. The event was open to the public and attended by postgraduate students, lecturers, and observers of psychology and spirituality issues.

In her presentation, Prof. Rena explained that religiosity and spirituality are important aspects in the formation of identity, the search for meaning in life, and psychological resilience throughout one's life cycle. "Spirituality is not something static, but undergoes transformation from childhood to old age. It develops along with life experiences, social relations, and internalized values," she stated.

Furthermore, she also emphasized that a developmental psychology approach can help understand the growth process of spirituality more holistically. "It is important for the academic world to integrate the spiritual aspect into the learning process, not just the cognitive," she added.

This Thursday Study Session is one of FKMP UIN Jakarta's flagship programs, serving as a space for scientific dialogue that builds critical and spiritual awareness among students.
