FKIK, UIN News Online – As many as 250 peoples washed their hands together in front of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) UIN Jakarta, Friday, (3/17). This activity that is attended by lecturers, employees, students, and citizens around campus II UIN Jakarta, lasted for approximately one hour.

This event is held in order to commemorate the 43th anniversary Indonesian Nurses Association (PPNI) and to break the Idonesian Record Museum (MURI) records.

“To break the record, this activity is conducted simultaneously along with 200.000 peoples across Indonesia,” said the head of Nursing Science study program FKIK UIN Jakarta Maulina Handayani SKep, MSc to UIN News online.

She also added that this activity is not only participated by the nurses in all hospitals in Indonesia, but also by the community. They were invited so that they know how to wash their hands properly.

According to FKIK secretary of Nursing Science study program Ernawati MKep , there are six steps hand hygiene technique recommended by World Health Organization (WHO), It begin by wetting hands with water and grab either a dollop of soap or hand rub, rubbing our palms together with your fingers closed, then together with fingers interlaced, move the right palm over left dorsum with interlaced fingers and vice versa – make sure to really rub in between your fingers, interlock your fingers and rub the back of them by turning your wrist in a half circle motion, Clasp your left thumb in your right palm and rub in in a rotational motion from the tip of your fingers to the end of the thumb, then switch hands, And finally scrub the inside of your right hand with your left fingers closed and the other hand.

“This method is the most efficient at killing bacteria.,  It turns out that just lathering your hands with soap, rubbing them vigorously for 20 seconds and rinsing is not the most effective way to clean them,” she said. (rs)
