FK UIN Jakarta-Hajj Hospital-Hajj Health Center will prepare health service for hajj pilgrims

Rectorate, UIN News Online – Faculty of Medicine (FK) of UIN Jakarta, Haji Hospital of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, and the Hajj Health Center of the Ministry of Health will prepare health service assistance for pilgrims in every Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage. Health service assistance includes the provision of medical personnel and health facilities.

This is the conclusion of the virtual Public Lecture entitled “Kemitraan Institusi Pendidikan Kedokteran Islam dalam Mendukung Pelayanan Kesehatan Haji dan Umroh” which was held by FK on Friday (10/29/2021).

The public lecture was held in two sessions. The first session was delivered by the Head of the Hajj Health Center of the Ministry of Health, Budi Sylvana, and moderated by the Head of the Medicine department, Achmad Zaki. Meanwhile, the second session featured the Director of the Haji Hospital UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Andi Wahyunigsih Attas, and moderated by the Head of  physician profession department, Femmy Nurul Akbar.

Also present in the event, the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis and Dean of FK UIN Jakarta Hari Hendarto.

Budi Sylvana in his presentation said that the assistance for Hajj and Umrah services by the government has actually been regulated in Minister of Health Regulation No. 62 of 2016. The main purpose of organizing Hajj health is that pilgrims must be in good health, because health is one of the conditions for istitha'ah (able) in performing Hajj activities.

The second objective is to control the health risk factors of the pilgrims. Then the third is to keep the pilgrims in good health, both while in the country, on their way and while in the Holy Land.

“The fourth health purpose of the Hajj is to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases that may be carried out and/or into Indonesia by the pilgrims,” said Budi.

Then the fifth, according to Budi, is to maximize the participation of the community in organizing the health of the Hajj itself.

Therefore, in preparing the implementation of Hajj health, it is necessary to prepare anticipatory and strategic steps. In the strategy to improve the health status of hajj pilgrims, both by the Hajj Health Center and FK UIN Jakarta, these steps are for example providing structured, systematic, and massive education to pilgrims who will perform the pilgrimage.

For this reason, it is also necessary to involve relevant ministries/institutions, academics, community organizations, and professional organizations to handle health services for pilgrims and their hajj officers.

“In addition, we must also use information technology, social media widely, and of course by developing Hajj medical science,” he said.

In the partnership between the Hajj Health Center of the Ministry of Health and FK UIN Jakarta, according to Budi, it is also necessary to prepare a curriculum, infrastructure, resources, and professional management regarding Hajj health.

For example, in Indonesia, we have to prepare guidelines regarding the implementation of Hajj health, create a curriculum and hajj health module, carry out meningitis and Covid-19 vaccinations, and hajj health workers recruitment.

“Meanwhile in Saudi Arabia, for example, we have to prepare groups of Indonesian Hajj groups in Mecca, Medina and Jeddah. Then provide ambulances, medicines and medical equipment, and operational vehicles,” he added.

Meanwhile, Director of the Hajj Hospital of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Andi Wahyuningsih Attas said, in providing Hajj health services, the Ministry of Health's Hajj and Umrah Health Center as the organizer of Hajj health has a responsibility in the health sector for the pilgrims.

“Other duties and responsibilities are selecting competent human resources who have a strong and reliable mentality to serve the community,” said Andi.

Therefore, Andi hopes that the tripartite cooperation between the Health Center for Hajj and Umrah of the Ministry of Health, FK UIN Jakarta, and the Hajj Hospital of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta must build strong synergies in order to realize the best health services and with the best human resources services.
