In his presentation, Nanang emphasized that press releases is the basis of journalism related to extracting information.

“Press release is information in the form of news which is prepared and sent by public relations to the mass media so that it can be published by the mass media,” said Nanang.

Press releases, he continued, are divided into 3, namely basic press releases, product press releases, and financial press releases.

In addition, in its preparation, said Nanang, it is necessary to pay attention to 7 tips for preparing a press release, namely the subject, finding the main ideas to be highlighted; organization, location, advantages, application, detail, and source.

“Press release becomes interesting if its caontains extraordinary content, such as novelty, actual, effect, closeness, information, conflict, human connection, sex and crime,” said Nanang.

He added that the preparation of a press release can use an inverted pyramid pattern that is drawn up deductively and preceded by a summary of important events in the first paragraph, or commonly referred as a lead.

“These steps will make it easier to compile,” he added.

Nanang also reminded the requirement that news headlines must be proactive, concise, concise, relevant, functional, formal, representative and specific. (usa/mf)
