FITK UIN Jakarta Strengthen its Collaboration with RELO-US Embassy and IIEF
FITK, UIN News Online – Regional English Language Office (RELO)-US Embassy and Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF) visited the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Thursday (03/10/2022). The team consists of Dr. Bradley Horn (Director of RELO), Catur Wahyudi (RELO Assistant), Diana Jahja (Director of IIEF), Chandri Negara and Titi (English Access Indonesia Program Team).
This visit is a form of implementation of a cooperation that has existed for approximately one year and two months called the English Access Microscholarship Program. The program itself is in the form of providing full scholarships for outstanding high school students and the equivalent in Jabodetabek to hone their skills in the fields of English, leadership, computer literacy, and others.
This program is a collaboration between FITK UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and RELO, IIEF and technically managed by the English Education (PBI) department of FITK UIN Jakarta.
During the visit, the RELO team was welcomed by the Dean of FITK Sururin, the Head of the PBI Department and the Coordinator of the English Access Microscholarship Program Jakarta Site Didin Nuruddin Hidayat, as well as the Secretary of Study Programs and PBI lecturers.
Sururin in her remarks expressed her gratitude for being able to meet face-to-face with the RELO and IIEF teams. She hopes that this collaboration with the US Embassy can continue with other programs, such as research collaborations, visiting professors or student exchanges.
“We are very happy if the cooperation with the American Embassy can be further enhanced with other programs,” said Sururin.
The idea was welcomed by Bradley Horn who will end his duties as Director of RELO this year. “This meeting is an important meeting to harmonize the various programs that have been implemented and will be continued by the next RELO Director”, he explained.
Furthermore, Didin as the Coordinator of the Jakarta English Access Site explained the results of the survey regarding the possibility of implementing the English Access program face-to-face in class. In general, students and parents (80%) expressed their willingness and readiness to carry out face-to-face learning (offline). In terms of facilities, FITK has also prepared classrooms and teaching rooms for this program.
The visit ended after the RELO and IIEF Team went around visiting classrooms, the PBI Study Program office and taking pictures together. The team expressed satisfaction with the results of the visit and soon will discuss a follow-up plan. (Waliyadin/MusAm/usa)
