FITK UIN Jakarta Hosts KIP Recipients, Highlights DPR Commission VIII’s Role in Education Policy

Mahmud Yunus Theatre FITK, UIN Online News — On Monday (20/10/2025), the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta hosted a seminar for the KIPK (Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah) scholarship recipients. This initiative represents a collaboration between the Directorate of Islamic Education (DAIP) under the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs and FITK UIN Jakarta.

The session was attended by the Rector, Vice Rector, Head of the Academic Affairs Bureau, Dean of the Faculty, and featured a House of Representatives (DPR) Commission  VIII member H. Sigit Purnomo, S.A.P., S.H., as the keynote speaker.

The event opened with a report from Dean Siti Nurul Azkiyah, M.Sc., Ph.D. She conveyed that FITK currently manages 84 collaborative projects with DAIP, backed by an annual budget of IDR 5.8 billion.

“There are five directorates involved in this measure: the Directorate of Teachers and Educational Personnel; the Curriculum Directorate; Infrastructure, Connectivity, and Student Affairs; the Directorate of Islamic Higher Education; and the Directorate of Vocational Training (Pontren), as well as Secretariat functions,” she explained.

Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., underscored that the KIPK program is a government policy aligned with several legislative initiatives, particularly those championed by the DPR.

“Our KIP program is synchronized with various policies, especially those advocated by elected representatives in the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Commission VIII, to facilitate the needs of scholarship recipients,” he clarified.

He outlined the application workflow: applicants submit required documents (academic records, employment status, etc.), undergo a multi‑stage selection process, then proceed to an interview with faculty before being admitted as KIP students.

Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., emphasized that a nation’s progress is inseparable from the quality of its education system.

“The advancement we see in our country stems directly from educational excellence.”

He further noted the significance of H. Sigit Purnomo’s presence as a Commission VIII member focused on national education.

Sigit Purnomo addressed the role of technology in contemporary society, noting its potential for both success and failure. He assured KIP recipients that leveraging modern technologies will enable them to complete their studies effectively.

“We want to ensure that future generations willl emerge as capable leaders who carry the prosperous vision for the Indonesia Emas 2045. So please, don't let our people down,” he hoped.

In his closing remarks, he encouraged students to pursue both academic and extracurricular excellence. Due to rigorous test applied for the KIPK scholarship, only fews are accepted. Thanks to the support from DPR, UIN Jakarta students will become the best of the best recipients in this scholarship program.
