FITK UIN Jakarta Holds the 4th ICEMS

Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – Faculty of Educational Sciences (FITK) UIN Jakarta in collaboration with UP Malaysia, University of Exeter, University of Manchester, University of Munstar, and University of South Australia holds the 4th International Conference on Education in Muslims Society (ICEMS) with the theme of “New Perspective on STEM Education in Muslim Society: Current Issues from different lenses” at Harun Nasution Auditorium, Campus I of UIN Jakarta, Wednesday-Thursday (October 24th-25th, 2018).

The conference is opened by Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA. The conference also invited a number of speakers, namely Dr Naseer Mansour (University of Exeter, UK), Dr Andrew J Howes (University of Manchester, UK), Prof Simon Leonard (University of South Australia), Prof Dr Hans-Dieter Barke (University of Munster, Germany), and Prof Dr Aida Surayya MD (University Putera Malaysia).

Dean of FITK UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Ahmad Thib Raya in his remarks said that the theme of this seminar attempts to reflect various aspects of both thoughts and research findings related to STEM education in Muslim countries, ranging from curriculum, research and development, new pedagogy and andragogy, new technology in stem education.

“In addition to disseminating thoughts and research findings, this conference is also expected to provide an invaluable opportunity for networking among international participants both individually and institutionally,” he said.

Inline with Ahmad Thib Raya, Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA said that the 4th ICEMS 2018 is intended to provide an opportunity for various stakeholders of STEM education especially in Muslim Society around the world to share their works, opinions and experiences in an open academic forum.

“This conference is designed not only to share the research findings but also offer recommendations for the governments, educational institutions, and other stake holders to improve the quality of STEM education. We also invite scholars, researchers, policy makers, teachers, and students from various countries to participate and work together to improve the quality of STEM education in Muslim community,” said Rector.

In addition to plenary session, ICEMS 2018 is also filled with parallel session according to the specified sub-topics. Among them are Curriculum and Policy in STEM Education, New Pedagogy and Andragogy in STEM Education, Learning / Teaching Methodologies and Assessment, New Media and Technologies for STEM Education, STEM Education and Special Needs, Training of STEM Educators and Professional Development, STEM Islam and Society, STEM Education in Informal Setting, STEM Education in 21st Century, and Topics Related to Math Education & Science Education (Biology, Physics, Chemistry).
