FITK holds the 3rd virtual lecturer discussion
Ciputat, UIN News Online – The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) UIN Jakarta held a monthly routine program of the 3rd Lecturer Discussion Series on Monday (05/18/2020) via zoom platform.
The Discussion Committee Nur Syamsiyah MPd explained that the current discussion was slightly different from the previous discussion because it featured the keynote speaker of the Research and Development Center for Literature, the Religious Heritage and the Management of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs Muhammad Zain.
In his presentation, Zain explained that Covid-19 also influenced the world of education. Thus, teachers as academics must re-examine ways of life by changing the paradigm of conventional learning into distance learning.
“Indonesia will be able to be like Finland where the people hold that the best people are those who work as teachers,” he said.
There are two themes that were brought up in the discussion this time, namely Lesson study in PPL: "From Japan to Indonesia," with Yanti Herliyanti as speaker and Digital Technology use for English Learning Among the Young Indonesian Generation with Didin Nurudin Hidayat as speaker.
In her presentation, Yanti explained that Japan is a country that requires all of its teachers to give an hour-long lesson on moral education every week, while Sofyan as a discusser examines and compares Japan which gives more attention to educators than Indonesia.
On the same occasion Didin emphasized that digital technology opportunities among young Indonesians are that students can study at home independently. They are able to overcome the limitations of learning in class by increasing their practical skills.
In line with Didin, Fahriyani stated that as educators, teachers and lecturers must be responsive to digital technology which at present has become a primary need.
It is known, this discussion activity is scheduled to be held routinely every year throughout 2020 with the theme ‘Ketarbiyahan dan Integrasi Keilmuan’ and presenting competent speakers in their respective fields. (usa/mf)
