FISIP UIN Jakarta holds seminar on Islam in the new world order

FISIP, UIN News Online – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UIN Jakarta holds public seminar entitled “Islam In the New World Order: Systemic Factors and Domestic Dynamics”, Thursday (10/03/2019) at FISIP auditorium, campus II of UIN Jakarta.

Moderated by Eva Mushoffa, the seminar presents Peter Mandaville (George Mason University), Greg Fealy (Australia National University), as the speakers. Also present in the event, Professor of FISIP UIN Jakarta Din Syamsuddin and Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta Ali Munhanif.

Din Syamsuddin in his remarks said that Islam is one of the world's civilizations that has a big impact and must be represented as a religion of peace. “To have sustainable peace, we need to work together and engange in various dialogues, this is absolutely essential,” said Din Syamsuddin.

Meanwhile, Peter Mandaville in his presentation provides an explanation of the idea of an Islamic political project. "This may reach the point where this ideologist asks some very basic existential about what it means to be involved in political activism and political activities inspired by Islam and we see that we will achieve some important results to find a part of Islamic ideology, values and ethics,” said Peter.

In line with peter, Greg also explained about modernists and traditionalists who collaborated to develop mechanisms to protect democratic systems and values in Indonesia.
