FISIP UIN Jakarta holds public lecture on Russia’s contemporary global politics

FISIP, UIN News Online – Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UIN Jakarta holds public lecture on Russia’s contemporary global politics, Wednesday (04/24/2019) at FISIP auditorium, campus II of UIN Jakarta.

Present in the event, Russia federation ambassador for Indonesia HE Lyudmila Georgievna Vorobieva, Dean of FISIP UIN Jakarta Alimun Hanif, lecturer of FISIP UIN Jakarta Din Syamsudin, and all academic community of FISIP UIN Jakarta.

 Lyudmila in her speech said, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Russia has the right to veto any major resolutions.

“Russia has a strategic role in European politics, especially for its participation in resolving the Syrian Conflict. Russia also has an important position in the Middle East,” said Lyudmilla.

She also added that Russia always maintains good relations with Muslim-majority countries, such as Indonesia.

“Russia, as part of a global political entity, has an interest in creating a balance of world politics,” she said.

Muslim-majority countries, she said, are an important part of the global political map. In addition, the Muslim community itself is one of the most social groups in Russia itself.

In addition, continued Lyudmila, Russia's foreign policy is also committed to providing assistance to countries in need. Some assistance is channeled to post-conflict countries in the Middle East region and countries with high economic needs such as countries in the Latin American. (usa)
