First in PTKIN, UIN Jakarta's Faculty of Medicine Obtains Permit for Master of Biomedical Sciences Program
Rectorate Building, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta's Faculty of Medicine has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining official approval to launch a Master of Biomedical Sciences Program. The license, granted through Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi, Sains, dan Teknologi Republik Indonesia Nomor 24/A/O/2025, makes UIN Jakarta the first State Islamic Religious University (PTKIN) to establish a Master’s program in this field.
The announcement was made by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki M.Epid., Sp.OT. FICS., on Friday (17/01/2025).
“Alhamdulillah, the Decree has been issued. I extend my deepest gratitude to all parties involved in this process. This program holds significant potential to meet the increasing demand for biomedical science graduates,” he stated.
The approval outlines that the program has met the minimum accreditation requirements and is obligated to adhere to national standards of higher education. The Ministerial Decree emphasizes its importance, stating that the program is under the auspices of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, ensuring it integrates Islamic values with advanced scientific education.
UIN Jakarta Rector, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for this accomplishment, highlighting the university's commitment to advancing science and medicine.
“This achievement underscores our strategic vision of integrating Islamic values into cutting-edge scientific disciplines, furthering UIN Jakarta’s contributions to the medical field,” he remarked.
Dean Achmad Zaki also elaborated on the program’s objectives, emphasizing its role in addressing the growing demand for biomedical experts with a solid ethical foundation.
“This Master’s program will serve as a hub for advancing science, technology, and innovation in biomedicine, while maintaining relevance to Islamic principles,” he added.
The Faculty of Medicine at UIN Jakarta has consistently set benchmarks in the PTKIN community. This new program follows its earlier achievement in 2024, when it became the first PTKIN to offer a Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine Specialist Program, established in collaboration with Fatmawati General Hospital and Cisarua RSPG.
The Faculty of Medicine, now in its 20th year since welcoming its first cohort in 2005, continues to demonstrate excellence in medical education. Its alumni have contributed significantly to public health development across Indonesia. With this new milestone, UIN Jakarta further cements its position as a leader in integrating science and Islamic values while fostering innovation and academic excellence in the medical field.
