First Day of the 141st Graduation Ceremony: UIN Jakarta Inaugurates 789 New Graduates
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News – A total of 789 graduates of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta were formally inaugurated on the first day of the 141st Commencement Ceremony for the 2025/2026 Academic Year on Saturday (September 5, 2026). The ceremony included graduates from the Graduate School, the Faculty of Educational Sciences (FITK), and the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FDI).
The graduation ceremony was presided over by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., alongside the Chairman of the UIN Jakarta Senate, Prof. Andi Faisal Bakti, M.A., Ph.D. Also in attendance were the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, S.Ag., S.H., M.A., M.H., faculty deans, heads of university units, faculty members, administrative staff, and families of the graduates.
In his address, the Rector reminded graduates that a person’s true worth is defined not by academic degrees, but by the integrity maintained throughout life. He highlighted honesty, independence, and the capacity to correct one's mistakes as core values to be upheld beyond graduation.
“You—and all of us—are not measured by the amount of wealth accumulated, the number of degrees earned, the size of our social circles, or the titles we hold. Rather, we are measured by the strength and quality of our integrity. That integrity is a far more noble value than any title or degree we attain,” the Rector stated.
This message serves as a guiding principle for graduates transitioning their academic values into professional and community life. A similar sentiment was echoed in an alumni reflection by Fajar Fakhrian, top graduate of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences in 2012, who currently serves as Branch Manager at BCA Syariah. He noted that the values cultivated during his time at UIN Jakarta remain foundational in his professional career.
“With absolute confidence, self-assurance, and pride, I can say that choosing to study at UIN Jakarta was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life,” he reflected.
According to Fajar, the core values of Knowledge, Piety, and Integrity, which anchored his academic life at UIN Jakarta, continue to guide his daily practice. He emphasized that knowledge must go hand in hand with spiritual values so that life's achievements yield enduring peace rather than fleeting satisfaction.
Meanwhile, student valedictorian Abu Bakar Siddiq, representing graduates from the Faculty of Educational Sciences, emphasized the vital role of education in shaping the future of society. He asserted that academic accomplishments must translate into meaningful contributions once graduates return to their communities.
“Education is paramount to human civilization. Education graduates serve as a benchmark for the success of future generations, and their role in society cannot be underestimated,” he stated.
On the first day, top honors were awarded to Nunuk Hidayati from the Graduate School's Doctoral Program with a GPA of 3.79; Lety Latifah from the Graduate School's Master's Program with a GPA of 3.82; Abu Bakar Siddiq from the Educational Management Study Program (FITK) with a perfect GPA of 4.00; Frandika Rizki from the Master's Program in Islamic Studies (FDI) with a GPA of 3.91; and Salsabila Syalwani from the Undergraduate Program in Islamic Studies (FDI) with a GPA of 3.94. All earned *Cum Laude* honors.
Additionally, the award for Best Scientific Work in Humanities/Islamic Studies was presented to Az-Zahra Fauziah from the Faculty of Islamic Studies for her thesis titled *"Nadhariyyatul Wakalah fil Fiqhil Islami Dirosah Tahliliyyah fi Aqdi Khidmah Jastip"* (Agency Theory in Islamic Jurisprudence: An Analytical Study of Personal Shopper Service Contracts).
The 141st Graduation Ceremony of UIN Jakarta as a whole celebrates 3,154 graduates. The first day served as a memorable milestone, marking the beginning of the graduates' journey to apply their knowledge, uphold integrity, and contribute meaningfully to their families, alma mater, and society.
