FIKES UIN Jakarta to Initiate the MoU Between UIN Jakarta and BKKBN

FIKES, UIN News Online – FIKES and the Cooperation Section of UIN Jakarta held a virtual meeting with the Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) to discuss the draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, Friday (04/07/2022).

Present in the event, Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Developmeny Lily Suraya Eka Putri, Dean of Fikes Zilhadia, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni and Cooperation of FIKES Ida Rosyidah, Director of Population Education Cooperation of BKKBN Edi Setiawan, representatives from the Legal Bureau and a number of other BKKBN officials.

The collaboration between UIN Jakarta and the BKKBN is very important, especially for accelerating the reduction of stunting, which is one of the biggest health problems in Indonesia. This activity was initiated by FIKES UIN Jakarta.

Zilhadia in her speech emphasized that the problem of stunting is one of the health problems in Indonesia that needs to be handled by various parties.

“FIKES UIN Jakarta has actually participated in efforts to accelerate stunting reduction through the Health Promotion Intervention Program in Stunting Prevention through Nutritional Education for Pregnant Women and Breastfeeding Mothers conducted in Gianyar Regency, Bali in 2021,” she said.

Zilhadia also emphasized that the contribution of FIKES UIN Jakarta is very much needed for this stunting effort.

In his presentation, Edi Setiawan explained that stunting is a complex problem involving various aspects, therefore it requires a multidimensional approach, not only limited to the health sector. Thus, cooperation from various parties is needed to solve this stunting problem, including the academic community in universities. The role of lecturers and students is needed both in conducting research and promotive as a preventive effort.

As an effort to accelerate stunting reduction, Edi Setiawan explained "BKKBN has collaborated in the form of legal support with various higher education institutions, namely the Indonesia Rector Forum and the Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah Consortium,” he said

Regarding funds, according to Edi Setiawan, the BKKBN itself does not have a specific budget alocation, but the funds are entrusted to the state through the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, especially at the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology.

In response, Lily Suraya regretted that UIN Jakarta, which was under the auspices of the Ministry of Religion, definitely could not access these funds, because of the dichotomy of Public Higher Education under the Ministry of Education and Culture and Religious Higher Education under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Therefore, Edi Setiawan suggested the need for UIN Jakarta to approach the Ministry of Religious Affairs for the stunting reduction acceleration program because the Ministry of Religion already has an MoU with the BKKBN.
