FIKES UIN Jakarta Involved in Global Collaboration through Student Mobility Programs in Malaysia
FIKES Building, UIN Online News — Three students from the Professional Pharmacist Program, Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta participate in the Student Mobility Programme at UCSI University Malaysia for a three-week program that runs from November 3 to 23, 2025.
Taking place at UCSI Hospital Springhill Malaysia, three selected students—Dikka Ananda, Rani Aulia Yuda, and Rizki Lestari—take part in an intensive series of academic and practical activities combining theoretical learning, hands-on practice, and direct observation in hospital and pharmaceutical laboratory settings.
“This program offers an invaluable learning experience for our students. Learning by doing is how pharmaceutical practices abroad are implemented professionally, systematically, and with technological integration. In this way, our students can learn how to adapt global pharmacy service standards within Indonesia’s local healthcare context,” said Prof. Dr. Zilhadia, M.Si., Dean of FIKES.
According to the press release received by UIN Online News on Tuesday (11/11/2025), the students will undertake a series of thematic modules designed to expand their knowledge and skills in modern pharmaceutical practices. The modules include Hospital Pharmacy Management, Critical Care & Internal Medicine, Compounding Workshop, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) & Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Workshop, Outpatient and Inpatient Department (OPD/IPD) Exposure, and Cultural Sharing & Assessment.
In the Hospital Pharmacy Management module, students will observe the hospital’s pharmacy management system, including drug inventory management, digital pharmaceutical information systems, and logistics distribution chains. They will also study how Malaysia’s hospital pharmacy departments are engineered to ensure efficient and accountable patient care.
Through the Critical Care & Internal Medicine module, the students will participate in case clerking activities in intensive care units (ICU) and internal medicine wards. They will learn directly from clinical pharmacists about drug therapy selection for critical patients, potential side effects, and therapy monitoring strategies based on patients’ clinical conditions.
In the Compounding Workshop, participants will be trained in preparing various pharmaceutical formulations, from creams and suspensions to sterile preparations. This module reinforces practical skills in drug formulation and precise dosage calculation, both essential aspects of the pharmacy profession.
Meanwhile, the Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) & Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Workshop introduces students to monitoring drug levels in the blood and designing parenteral nutrition therapies for patients with special medical needs. Through case simulations, they will learn to adjust dosages based on laboratory results and clinical parameters.
During the Outpatient and Inpatient Department (OPD/IPD) Exposure module, students will engage in prescription screening simulations, patient counseling processes, and drug distribution systems based on Unit of Dose (UoD) and Unit of Supply (UoS) standards. This activity aims to cultivate an understanding of therapeutic communication and patient safety in pharmaceutical practice.
Finally, the Cultural Sharing & Assessment session allows UIN Jakarta students to present Indonesian culture to their peers at UCSI University. The program will conclude with participants presenting their learning outcomes and reflections on the mobility experience.
