FIDK UIN Jakarta certify 98 Hajj and Umrah counselors
FIDK, UIN News Online – A total of 98 hajj and umrah counselors received training on the procedures for organizing the hajj and umrah pilgrimages. They come from DKI Jakarta Province and some from several regions in Indonesia.
The training was held by the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Science (FDIK) of UIN Jakarta in collaboration with the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah Organization (PHU) of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Communication Forum of the Hajj and Umrah Counselor Group (FK KBIHU) of the DKI Jakarta.
“The certification program will provide legality and recognition for Hajj and Umrah mentors. They should get recognition and be more competent in guiding pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah,” said the Dean of FIDK Suparto at the opening of the sixth batch of Hajj and Umrah Counselor Certification at Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Jakarta, Wednesday (01/19/2022).
Present in the opening ceremony, Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis, Director General of PHU Hilman Latief, Head of DKI Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Cecep Khairul Anwar, Chair of the National KBHIU FK KH Manarul Hidayat, and Head of DKI Jakarta KBIHU DPW FK KH M Machdum.
Suparto further said that FDIK as a higher education institution is not only oriented towards academic activities but also seeks to build relationships with various stakeholders. One of them is providing guidance for Hajj and Umrah counselors through a certification program.
“Their competence will be more recognized if they have a certificate of Hajj and Umrah guidance,” he said.
Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis in her remarks said that the Hajj and Umrah training aims to provide insight and knowledge regarding the implementation of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages for the counselors.
“Through this certification program, participants are expected to be able to understand more about the ins and outs of organizing the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages,” said Rector Amany.
According to Amany, this program is very important for the organizers of the pilgrimage and umrah, especially the counselors. It is not only related to the technical aspects of organizing Hajj and Umrah, but also related to regulations and policies regarding Hajj and Umrah.
The Chancellor also added that during the Covid-19 period which has been running for almost two years, the Government of Saudi Arabia has taken a policy to limit the pilgrimage and Umrah, including those from Indonesia. This restriction was made to avoid crowds.
“I hope Indonesian pilgrims can can patiently wait until Saudi Arabia issues a new policy regarding Covid-19,” she added.
Meanwhile, Director General of PHU Hilman Latief said that the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs strongly supports the Hajj and Umrah counselor certification program implemented by UIN Jakarta and FK KBIHU DKI Jakarta.
“We need coiunselor who have good leadership mentality and can bring pilgrims to perform the Hajj and Umrah in a better direction,” he said.
For information, there are 98 counselors that participates in this certification program. The participants consisting of 80 male participants and 18 female participants. The training will last until January 26. (ns/usa)
