FIDK-KOARMABAR Held MTQ and MHQ Competition
Diorama Room, UIN News Online – Faculty of Da’wa and Communication Sciences (FIDK) UIN Jakarta in collaboration with Western Fleet Command (KOARMABAR) of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) held Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) and Musabaqah Hifdhil Qur’an (MHQ) competition for inter Jabodetabek University Students from June 12-14, 2017. This event is held to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the TNI which falls on 5 October 2017.
The event is officiated by the commander of KOARMABAR Rear Admiral Aan Kurnia in Diorama Room, Monday, (6/12). Also present in the event, Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA, Vice Rector for Cooperation Prof Dr Murodi, and Dean of FIDK Dr Arif Subhan.
In his opening remarks, Aan said, this activity aims to understand, and to practice the content of the Holy Qur’an. Additionaly, this event is also held to strengthen the Ukhuwah Islamiyah among the students and to improve the art and culture of al-Qur’an recitation.
“We (KOARMABAR –red) want to strengthen the relationship with the society, especially with the students,†said Aan.
Meanwhile, Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada positively appreciated the implementation of the MTQ and MHQ competition. Moreover, the committee has set some qur’an verses that are thematically to be read and understood according to the actual developments in society. This is in line with the expectations of UIN Jakarta that students should have modern, inclusive, and tolerant Islamic thought.
“UIN Jakarta students are quite diverse in terms of religion. Not only Islam but also Christian, Catholic, and Confucian,†said Dede.
He asserts, the implementation of MTQ/MHQ competition in UIN Jakarta is expected to give the students an understanding about God's message, which commands his people to live in mutual respect for each other. "I think the theme and momentum of MTQ / MHQ is very urgent to be developed in UIN Jakarta," he said.
MTQ / MHQ was held in FDIK building and attended by at least 70 participants from 13 universities in Jabodetabek. The MTQ participants consisted of 19 men and 11 women, while MHQ was attended by 20 men and 20 women.
Interestingly, in the contest the MTQ committee set some verses of the Qur'an with a certain theme, namely about tolerance, unity, peace, and diversity. The MHQ is divided into two categories, the 5 juz memorization category and the 10 juz memorization categories. (usa)
