FEB Require Students to Write Scientific Articles
FEB Building, UIN NEWS Online - Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UIN Jakarta will require its students to write articles of national or international conference and indexed journal as their graduation requirements. This obligation is expected to foster academic and student research climate in the FEB environment.
The obligation to write is stated in the FEB UIN Jakarta Dean Decree of Number 49 of 2017 on Scientific Liability for Students FEB UIN Jakarta. In the decree issued in September 2017 it is mentioned that such obligations are based on the consideration of the desire to improve the academic quality of the field of research and increase the number of scientific publications among FEB students.
This mandatory requirement of scientific writing is based on a number of relevant legislation. One of them is the Circular Letter of the Directorate General of Higher Education Number 152 / E / T / 2012 on Scientific Publication Obligations for Undergraduate, S2 and S3 Students.
The same decree explains, the writing obligation applies to all FEB students, either undergraduate, master, or doctoral level. The only difference is that undergraduate students are only required to publish their scientific work in online journals or conference-seminar proceedings.
While the master students must publish their scientific work in accredited scientific journals of DIKTI or international proceedings. PhD students must write in reputable international scientific journals or proceedings of international conferences indexed by Scopus or ISI Thomson Reuters.
Scientific works must be published before students attend graduation sessions where evidence of publication is reported when registering graduation. In order to write scientific papers guaranteed quality and rules of writing scientific papers, every writing of student articles must be accompanied by one lecturer assistant.

Separately, Deputy Dean for Academic FEB UIN Jakarta Dr. Amilin, SE., Ak., M.Si., CA, QIA., BKP to the UIN Online NEWS, Thursday (1/11/2018), explains this provision effective from July 2018. The background of the issuance of SK obligation of writing is a follow up on the mission of UIN Jakarta Rector Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada MA who wants to increase the number of scientific publications. "Incidentally this mission has long been the mission of FEB as well, and incidentally, this policy is relevant to the Ministry of Research and Technology Dikti about efforts to improve the publication of scientific papers," he explained.
To be effective, he continued, the implementation of this obligation will take place a year before it is enacted. During that time, FEB UIN Jakarta socialosasi first to both students and lecturers.
Although it applies in July, he continued, several Prodi FEB have started to implement the obligation. For example, Prodi S1 Economic Development, students who will list the graduation must have been submitted his/her scientific articles to the journal with proven evidence of correspondence between the author with the Editor Journal (admin). For the record, Amilin explains again, the material for publication does not have to be from a thesis, thesis, or dissertation. Students are welcome to submit and submit their scientific papers to journalists or conference committees since they are registered as active students in FEB (semester 1) so they do not have to be final year students.

Amilin added that if the habits of scientific publication have become a culture within the FEB UIN Jakarta, a maximum of five years since its enactment, FEB will improve the quality of the publication level by increasing its requirements.
