Featuring the Minister of Communication & Digital Affairs: UIN Jakarta Encourages Freshmen to Embrace Digitalization and AI

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the Introduction to Academic Culture and Student Affairs (PBAK) 2025 on Tuesday (August 26, 2025) by inviting Meutya Hafid, B.Eng., M.IP., the Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), who delivered a keynote address on “Internationalization, Digitalization, and Green Campus: Building Campus-Business Collaboration for a Sustainable Future” to UIN Jakarta’s new students.

She expressed her appreciation for the successful organization of PBAK 2025. In her address, she emphasized the critical role of technology in shaping daily life and urged students to prepare themselves for the challenges and opportunities of the digital era.

“We are living in an era of profound change often described as the industrial revolution and digital transformation. There are three major forces driving this megatrend: physical transformation, digital transformation, and biological transformation,” she explained during her keynote session.

She further highlighted that the future belongs to those who can adapt, innovate, and collaborate in this technological age—including the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Meutya encouraged the freshmen to start cultivating these three values from their very first day at UIN Jakarta, an institution that has produced many of the nation’s leaders.

In addition, UIN Jakarta Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., along with the university’s leadership, warmly welcomed Minister Meutya Hafid and expressed full support for Komdigi’s initiatives in addressing digital challenges faced by higher education institutions today.

The Minister also urged the new students to maximize the benefits of digitalization and AI, as well as to develop a critical understanding of the opportunities and risks that come with widespread ICT use.
