Featuring the Director Advocacy for the National Narcotics Agency (BNN): UIN Jakarta Supports Drug-Free Campus
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News — The third talk show in the Introduction to Academic Culture and Student Affairs (PBAK) 2025 Day Two at UIN Jakarta featured the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Director of Advocacy, Police Commissioner Guntur Maulana, S.T., M.Sc., on Wednesday (Aug 27, 2025). With the theme “Young Generation Against Drugs: Building Awareness, Protecting Academic Achievement,” he called on thousands of freshmen to shield themselves from drug abuse to secure a brighter future.
In his address, Guntur Maulana emphasized that young people, especially university students, bear a vital responsibility to protect themselves and their surroundings from the dangers of drugs.
“If you know a friend using narcotics, report it directly to BNN. Don’t let them fall into the hands of irresponsible parties. Remember, users are victims who need rehabilitation, not imprisonment,” he asked.
He reminded students that drug entanglement does not only destroy individual lives but also undermines the nation’s future.
“In prison, a first-time user may end up meeting dealers and syndicates—coming out more skilled at distributing and even cooking illegal substances. We don’t want that to happen. That’s why you must stay focused on your studies and steer clear of drugs,” he stressed.
Guntur Maulana also revealed that 57% of Indonesia’s prison population is linked to narcotics-related offenses. For that reason, he urged UIN Jakarta freshmen to become a generation that firmly closes the chains of drug distribution.
“If you want to graduate on time, don’t even think about trying pills. Believe me, no one excels academically while taking them,” he added, receiving applause from the students.
Through this talk show, BNN and UIN Jakarta reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with the younger generation, particularly university students, to raise awareness and foster a campus environment that is healthy, productive, and drug-free.
