FDIKOM UIN Jakarta Conducts Community Service on Seribu Island

Jakarta, UIN Online News — The Da'wah Management (MD) at the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta conducted a Study Program-Based Community Service initiative in the Thousand Islands from August 13 to 14, 2025.

This initiative, themed "Bringing Dakwah Down to Earth Through Training: Transforming Socio-Religious Roles on Seribu Island" emphasizes public speaking training, corpse management, enhancement of Quranic recitation, and imam training.

Subsequent to the tour, the group then proceeded to Tidung Island to inaugurate the community service initiatives at the Arrahmah Islamic Boarding School Foundation and the PKU Islamic High School.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by religious leaders, madrasah administrators, officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and a delegation of 14 lecturers from the MD program.

Present were KH. Mawardi, S.Ag., Head of the North Jakarta Ministry of Religious Affairs; Bayhaqi, S.Ag., Religious Affairs Counselor for the Thousand Islands; Dawamun, S.Ag., Leader of the Arrahmah Islamic Boarding School; and Chumaidi, S.H.I., Head of the MA PKU Madrasah.

Dr. H. Hamidullah Mahmud, M.A., Chairman of the Organizing Committee, spoke about the importance of applying the principles of da'wah within society.

"We aim for the residents of Seribu Island to attain skills that can be promptly utilized to enhance the quality of worship and their socio-religious functions," he stated.

The Head of the Bachelor of Da'wah Management Program, H. Amirudin, M.Si., urged the necessity for service operations to be sustainable.

"This service must endure as a long-lasting benefit for these people," he added.

Mr. Chumaidi, S.HI., the Head of MA PKU Madrasah, conveyed his appreciation for the attendance of the lecturers from the Da'wah Management Study Program.

"I am glad to welcome the speakers from my own alma mater. Of course, I am also an alumnus of UIN Jakarta. I want these children to engage with this event attentively and respectfully and to assimilate the knowledge imparted by their lecturers and speakers," he stated.

The training session consisted of participants in a public speaking workshop facilitated by Vahruddin Jayadi, M.A., which encompassed subjects such as communication skills, body language, intonation regulation, and methods for enhancing self-confidence.

The instructional team conducted a training session on body embalming, facilitated by Dra. Musfiroh Nurlaili H., M.A., Dr. Hj. Mastanah, M.Si., and Dr. Nuriyah, M.M. including practical demonstrations of bathing, shrouding, and offering prayers for the departed in accordance with Islamic law.

Prof. Dr. Murodi, M.Ag., the Professor of the Da'wah Management Study Program, successfully motivated these children and presented UIN Jakarta as a viable choice for higher education.
