FDIKOM UIN Jakarta Collaborates with Katadata.co.id to Strengthen Data-Driven Journalism
Smart Class, UIN Online News – The Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has partnered with Katadata.co.id to enhance the journalistic capabilities of its students and academic community. This collaboration specifically focuses on developing data-driven and fact-based journalism, taking place in the Smart Class Room of FDIKOM on Monday (June 16, 2025).
Representing the faculty leadership, Vice Dean for Student Affairs Drs. M. Muhtadi, M.A., welcomed this collaborative initiative. He emphasized the importance of mastering data journalism amidst the rapid and complex flow of information.
“We are delighted to welcome the Katadata team. We hope this collaboration will not only benefit students but also be implementable by lecturers in the learning process. Data journalism is the future,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Head of Product at Katadata, Muchamad Nafi, conveyed that the ability to present data and facts accurately is crucial in today's journalistic world. According to him, data-driven journalism can be a solution to combat the widespread hoaxes and disinformation in the digital era.
“Through this collaboration, we aim to build synergy between the media world and the academic world. The hope is that students—especially those in communication fields—can strengthen their capacity for data analysis and presentation in their journalistic works,” he explained.
This cooperation also forms part of Katadata's efforts to expand its network of strategic partnerships with universities in Indonesia, particularly with faculties and study programs focusing on communication science, media, and journalism.
With this collaboration, FDIKOM UIN Jakarta further reinforces its commitment to producing graduates who are adaptive, critical, and capable of presenting information that is data-based, credible, and beneficial to the public.
