FDIKOM 35th Anniversary: Faculty of Da‘wa and Communication Sciences Opens Scholarship Forum

Faculty of Da‘wah and Communication, UIN Jakarta — The Faculty of Da‘wa and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM) celebrated its 35th Anniversary by hosting a scholarship forum designed to provide students with comprehensive information about scholarship opportunities.

The event, held on Friday (26/09/2025), featured two international scholarship awardees: Muhammad Kholis Hamdy, S.Sos.I., MInt.Dev., and Farabi Ferdiansah, S.Kom.I., M.A.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Gun Gun Heryanto, M.Si., Dean of FDIKOM, explained that the faculty’s success depends on both external and internal engagement, outward-looking perspectives, and individual self-reliance.

“Movement means being dynamic, active, and productive. That is the essence of moving forward,” he stated.

Speaking from his experience as an Australia Awards Scholarship recipient, Muhammad Kholis highlighted the importance of self-awareness in discovering one’s strengths and interests.

“A scholarship is a bridge to knowledge, to broader horizons, and to inspiration. It is a chance to become a better version of yourself,” he said, citing Prophet Muhammad PBUH as an enduring role model.

Meanwhile, Farabi Ferdiansah, a Chevening Scholarship awardee, shared that perseverance and character-building are essential in navigating the scholarship journey. It prioritizes essays over standardized tests such as IELTS or TOEFL, making it widely accessible, though still highly competitive among applicants.

“I started from scratch, but I kept building character and forging my own path. Starting from just writing as a journalist to filming, I finally succeeded,” he said.

The 35th Anniversary celebrations at FDIKOM featured a series of events, including group exercise at the faculty’s ground floor, the Scholarship Talk, a faculty gathering in the Prof. Husnul Aqib Suminto Theater Hall, and the Fun Run and Walk 2025, which is scheduled for Saturday (27/9/2025).
