FDIK UIN Jakarta Holds International Webinar on Global Peace
FDIK, UIN News Online – Center of Study for Empowerment and Peace (CSEP) of Islamic Community Development Department at the Faculty of Da’wa and Communication Science (FDIK) UIN Jakarta held an international webinar titled “Civilization Exchange for Global Peace and Understanding” through Zoom Application on Wednesday (06/29/2022).
Moderated by Wahyunengsih (Lecturer at FDIK UIN Jakarta), the webinar presents Imam Mohamad Bashar Arafat (President of CECF and Founder of Al Basheer Seminary) and Andi M Faisal Bakti (Professor at FDIK UIN Jakarta).
Dean of FDIK UIN Jakarta suparto in his opening remarks said, when we refer to the Surah Al-Hujurat verse 13, the verse reminds us to uphold world peace.
“This discussion is very interesting for all of us who really care about global phenomenon,” he said.
On the same occasion, President of CECF and Founder of Al Basheer Seminary Imam Mohamad Bashar Arafat in his presentation said that the civilization that brought prosperity to the world with all of its knowledge, technology, mathematics, science, was brought through Cordova, Spain.
Imam also said that there are other civilizations in this world. Like seeing the pyramids, Roman Amphitheater, Persian or Byzantine “We also need to study the factors that played a role in the rise and fall of earlier civilizations. It aims for the benefit of mankind to understand what causes the rise and fall of a civilization,” he said.
In addition, Imam was amazed by Indonesian culture. He was very happy when he visited Indonesia. According to Imam, Indonesia has an extraordinary, harmonious, and amazing culture.
“I have visited Indonesia many times. Honestly I love Indonesia, you have an amazing culture,” said Imam.
Meanwhile, Andi M Faisal Bakti in hi presentation said that individual habits can turn into Community habits, then into institutionalized values called institutional values. Furthermore, Andi said, when a value is true and develops in the community and continues to be disseminated, the value recognized both by the community and outside the community is called a moral value.
Andi also said that there were still many problems and conflicts in Indonesia.
“Therefore, it is necessary to suppress and spread the ideas of civilizational exchange for peace and global understanding to all parts of the world,” said Andi. (FDIK/usa)
