FAH UIN Jakarta Holds Studium Generale on Dealing with Diversity

Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Jakarta holds studium generale entitled  “Coexisting with Diversity and Accepting Differences” on Tuesday (10/04/2022) held at Main Auditorium, campus I of UIN Jakarta.

Moderated by Deputy Dean for Student, Alumni and Cooperation of FAH Usep Abdul Matin, this event presents H.E. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi (Member of the UAE Federal National Council for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Defense Affairs, Interior & Foreign Affairs Committe) and Andhika Chrisnayudanto (Deputy for International Cooperation of BNPT Indonesia) as resorce persons.

Al Nuaimi in his presentation in mentioned six ways to implement coexistence in diversity. First, countries in the world must immediately issue laws and regulations to eradicate hate speech.

“Second, education must focus on diversity, difference, and practice the values of tolerance. Third, it is necessary to formulate a global understanding to combat hatred, racism, and discrimination, as well as to visualize it in the form of drama, film, and other work of arts,” he sad.

Fourth, he said, there must be strict controls on social media platforms to criminalize hate speech, discrimination and racism. Fifth, there must be a global journalism charter that criminalizes religion-based aggression.

Sixth, holding an international conference of religious leaders. It will be in the same spirit as the Document on Human Fraternity, which was signed by Pope Francis of the Catholic Church and Sheikh Al Azhar in Abu Dhabi in 2019.

“If these six conditions are met, then the society can live side by side in peace and harmony,” said Al Nuhaimi.
