FAH UIN Jakarta Holds Studium Generale
Main Auditorium, UIN News Online -- Ciputat - Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) became the pioneer of Anti-corruption Education after successfully organize studium generale and launching the course of Pancasila and Anti-Corruption Education (PPAK), Wednesday (09/17/2018) at Harun Nasution Auditorium, Campus I of UIN Jakarta. The event also invites Secretary General of Transparency International Indonesia, Dadang Trisasongko, Education and Community Service Director of the Corruption Eradication (KPK), Giri Suprapdiono, and Dean of FAH UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Sukron Kamil as keynote speakers.
Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Yusran Razak, MA, in his speech appreciated this activity as a form of corruption prevention. Yusran also appreciated the launching of this corruption education course, because FAH was considered as a pioneer at the UIN level throughout Indonesia.
Dadang Trisasongko as the first speaker delivered the material straightforward to the participants who were mostly new students. The increasing number of corruptors involving many public officials in 2017-2018 is an issue that must be resolved immediately, the last Indonesian people are shocked by 21 legislative members of the Malang City assemblymen who are ensnared by corruption. Dadang said that the launching of the PPAK course is a tremendous leap of progress as a form of handling upstream corruption problems. So far, the handling of corruption was only applied at the end or after corruptors were caught in corruption.
Corruption has influenced people's mindsets when they often solve problems with bribery, this condition gets worse when honest people are more silent or indifferent to this kind of behavior. To be able to run optimally, anti-corruption education must be accompanied by improvements in higher education governance that still leaves a gap for corruption.
"It is very important to include anti-corruption education in courses in tertiary institutions, because it is the higher education that will create the next generation of this country. This is a mechanism that must be applied, by building, creating, strengthening the integrity of young people so that when they enter the corrupt Indonesian workforce situation, they are ready. If they have high integrity, they stay honest regardless the situation, they can even encourage the system to change. Students must attend these lectures and for the lecturers, the teaching methods should be fun, such as playing films, discussions, active lecturers will encourage active students," said Dadang (09/17/2018).
Meanwhile, KPK's Direcotr for Community Education and Services, Giri Suprapdiono delivered several important points in this session. He said that UIN Jakarta could help eradicate corruption, by providing insight into anti-corruption since attending college. According to him, the college became the last bastion of the formation of the personality of young generation, from here students must be educated so as not to judge one's success only in terms of material.
To prevent corruption, there is a need to improve the system, Giri exemplifies the system developed by PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), around five years ago where there were still many people sat the roof of the train, not paying tickets, and acts of corruption committed by unscrupulous employees because they were still using paper tickets. Since 2013 PT. KAI applies electronic tickets with a strict supervision system to prevent corruption activity. Corruption prevention must also be done by improving the system, so that corruption no longer occurs in this country.
"College is the best time to build the last personality education, use these years to determine what you want to be in the future and one of the choices is to be an anti-corruption generation, don't be afraid of being poor because of not doing corruption, he explained (09/17/2018).
On the sidelines of the break, new students majoring in English Language and Literature, Sanisa Aurelia expressed their opinions about this new course
"This course is good so that in the future we as students and prospective leaders of the nation do not commit corruption which is clearly detrimental to the state, as said by Pak Dadang that corruption is more detrimental to young people and poor people".
As the last speaker, Dean of FAH, Prof. Sukron Kamil hoped that after this course was applied, the anti-corruption culture could develop and spread to the wider community.
"We started in the academic community first, then we will spread it to all elements of society so that the next 5-10 years our country's corruption rate will drop dramatically," said Sukron.
The application of this course will be combined with the student's direct participation in activities organized by the KPK, presenting corruption activists, and direct practice in the field. The effort was made so that the benefits of this new course could be felt immediately. (usa)
