FAH UIN Jakarta Encourages Freshmen to Publish Collaborative Research for International Reputation
Syahida Inn, UIN Online News – The Faculty of Humanities (FAH) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the 2026 Academic and Student Culture Orientation (PBAK FAH) on Friday (August 28, 2026) at Syahida Inn. The faculty orientation aimed to introduce FAH UIN Jakarta’s mission as a reputable international Islamic campus driven by research publications.
In his opening address, Dean of FAH, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, M.Hum., CIQnR., invited incoming students to collaborate with faculty members from their very first semester in co-authoring journal articles for scholarly publication. This initiative is designed to introduce new students to an international academic atmosphere characterized by interdisciplinary collaborative research.
Recent research collaborations within the humanities domain have led FAH students and faculty into international discussions on bibliometrics with the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), aiming to enhance the global visibility and impact of UIN Jakarta’s scholarly publications.
“I want to ensure that your hundreds of pages of research or undergraduate thesis do not end up merely archived in the library or repository. With just a twelve-page journal article, you can graduate on time while earning recognition from researchers around the globe,” he urged the incoming class.
He noted that these research efforts will be guided by Academic Advisors (PA), who will mentor students through the process of writing publication-ready scientific articles geared for prompt acceptance by reputable journal editorial teams indexed in SINTA and Scopus.
“During your final semesters, you will be guided by your Academic Advisors. They will mentor you based on the research topics you have previously submitted,” he added.
Echoing this vision, Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, M.A. (Leiden), M.A. (Duke), Ph.D., explained the MBKM (Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka) program, which accelerates international research publication.
“MBKM will be immensely helpful because it empowers you to independently define and conduct research to meet graduation requirements. The faculty and I will benefit greatly from your contributions in advancing our university's research output through your published journal articles,” he explained.
