#FacultyNews: FITK UIN Jakarta Student Wins Silver Medal at the International Moslem Pencak Silat Championship

FITK, UIN Online News—Another proud achievement has been recorded by a student of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This time, the accomplishment was achieved by Bintang Adnin Ibrahim, a third-semester student of the Islamic Education (PAI) Study Program at the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Teacher Training (FITK), who won a silver medal at the International Moslem Pencak Silat Championship.

The international pencak silat championship was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. The event took place on September 18, 2025, in Tangerang City and was attended by athletes from various countries. Competing in the individual performance category, Bintang demonstrated strong technical skills and determination, earning second place in the competition.

For Bintang, this achievement did not come instantly. She admitted that at the beginning of her university studies, she did not feel particularly outstanding academically. Rather than becoming discouraged, she chose to develop her potential through non-academic activities, especially in the martial art of pencak silat.

“I want to soar outside academics, but without leaving Islamic values behind,” she said.

This principle has guided her commitment to practicing pencak silat more seriously. She views pencak silat not only as a sport but also as a cultural heritage and a means of character building. In preparation for the international championship, Bintang trained with discipline, focusing on technical skills, physical conditioning, and maintaining overall fitness.

Balancing her responsibilities as a university student with regular training was not easy. According to her, the biggest challenge was maintaining consistency and motivation amid a demanding academic schedule.

“Staying consistent and motivated is not easy, especially when classes are intensive. But I keep trying and strengthening my intention,” she explained.

The most memorable moment for Bintang was hearing her name announced as the silver medalist. Feelings of emotion, pride, and gratitude came together. For her, the medal is not merely a symbol of victory but a stepping stone to greater motivation in her future journey, both as an athlete and as a student. She hopes her achievement will have a positive impact not only on herself but also on UIN Jakarta.

“I hope this achievement shows that UIN Jakarta students can excel in non-academic fields and compete at the international level,” she said.

Bintang also hopes to inspire other students not to hesitate in exploring and developing their own potential. According to her, experiences gained outside the classroom play an important role in personal development.

Behind her success, Bintang emphasized the vital role of her family’s support. With deep gratitude, she thanked her family for their constant trust and encouragement.

“Thank you to my family for always believing in me. Their support is my greatest strength,” she concluded.

The achievement of Bintang Adnin Ibrahim is expected to motivate other students to keep striving, achieving excellence, seizing opportunities, and never giving up.
