#FacultyNews: FAH UIN Jakarta Strengthens Scholarly Publication Strategy through Bibliometrics Coaching with IIUM
South Tangerang, UIN News Online — The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta strengthened its research and scientific publication capacity through a Coaching on Bibliometrics workshop in collaboration with the Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). The hybrid event was held in the Main Meeting Room (RSU) of the FAH Building on Tuesday (18/8/2026).
The event featured Prof. Datin Dr. Roslina Othman, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate, Research, & Innovation) of KICT IIUM and a participant in the UIN Jakarta Research Fellow program, as the keynote speaker. It was attended by FAH leadership and faculty members, including the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum.; Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ida Farida, M.LIS.; Head of the Library Science Study Program, Siti Maryam, S.Ag., M.Hum.; and several faculty members.
In the main session, Prof. Datin Dr. Roslina Othman explored bibliometrics as an analytical method that utilizes publication and citation data to examine patterns, trends, productivity, influence, and networks within specific research disciplines. Understanding various publication indicators and metrics is designed to help researchers evaluate research trajectory and identify opportunities for collaborative research development.
The Dean of FAH UIN Jakarta, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum., emphasized that a robust grasp of bibliometrics has become increasingly vital amidst the evolving academic publishing landscape. According to him, researchers are expected not only to produce scholarly work, but also to understand how the growth and impact of their research can be quantitatively measured.
“AI now significantly facilitates our workflow, including searching, processing, and mapping information. However, what is equally crucial is ensuring that the displays, information, and data we utilize are truly valid so that analytical outcomes remain academically accountable,” he explained.
In addition to addressing bibliometric concepts and metrics, the session introduced various tools and platforms designed for scientific publication mapping. Utilizing such data enables researchers to identify thematic intersections, emerging research trends, co-authorship networks, and the overall progression of a research domain.
The workshop featured active engagement throughout the interactive Q&A discussion. Participants gained valuable opportunities to explore the practical application of bibliometrics in research and publication workflows, ensuring that their understanding extends beyond theory into actionable instruments for structuring future research agendas.
Through this Coaching on Bibliometrics initiative, FAH UIN Jakarta reaffirms its dedication to advancing scholarly publication standards, empowering academic staff with insights into publication metrics, and broadening international research collaborations in partnership with IIUM Malaysia.
